alisa harrington is live at the bridge making ultimate plans. alisa? >> reporter: right now the yellow pilons are the only things that separate north and southbound lanes of traffic on the golden gate bridge. you can see they're plastic hollow and only about four inches wide. but new concrete barriers are designed to prevent head on collisions on the bridge and potentially -- driving over the golden gate bridge is about to look a whole lot different. the yellow pilons will be gone. in their place, a moveable concrete barrier. to install it the entire bridge will be closed to traffic from 11:59 until 4:00 a.m. on monday. but don't wait until the last minute to cross. the access roads will start closing down in the 11:00 hour. the parking lots on both ends of the bridge will also close much earlier this evening. >> reporter: the barrier is 12 inches wide. betty tool who lived in marin since the 1960s said it is inconvenient but a necessary improvement. >> there are going to be about 200 people at the memorial, many coming from the city and so it is havin
