hi, katie. >> how are you. >> alisyn: i'm well.s to share your thoughts as you hear of this horrible nightmare this little five-year-old boy in alabama is going through. what were you thinking today when you heard what he is enduring? >> i unfortunately did not hear about this story until yesterday. i had been in l.a. all week doing things. i was horrified when i heard about this poor little boy, five years old. i can't even imagine honestly what he is going through being that young and not knowing his abductor, possibly seeing his school bus driver killed in front of him. >> alisyn: we were talking about when you were abducted nine years old. you spent your tenth birthday in a dungeon. what can you tell us about your experience? >> 17 days i my only contact i had was john espito, my abductor i was deprived of nourishing food and normal every day things that everybody takes for grants, being able to brush your teeth, shower, use the toilet and things like that. it was horrific and horrifying. >> alisyn: how did you get through it?

>> alisyn: doing well.do we make of this action by north korea. what does it tell us about their capabilities? >> it tells us, first of all, they're increasingly desperate. as far as actual accountability goes, greg palkot nailed it. it gets them a bit closer to nas menacing us. and a warhead and getting a missile that can actually hit the continental united states or even hawaii, but they're bullies and by being bullies, playground bullies, and i prefer to think of north koreans, alisyn, as really, really bratty 13 or 14 year olds throwing violent tantrums demanding an iphone. well, if you're a fool you give them the iphone and then next when they want an ipad or an autographed picture of alisyn camerota. so it never somtops. right thing to do discipline them and cut off the allowance. even though we have sanctions on them, the global community has sanctions, china subverts the sanctions and china is the one player that can influence north korea and china is losing patience, but ultimately when the north k

alisyn: i'm well.t was an interesting revelation and headline yesterday where leon panetta explained that he and secretary of state then hillary clinton and general david petraeus all thought they should arm the rebels in syria but the president didn't want to. what do you make of that revelation? >> well it is very interesting. we had known for some time that last summer, late summer, early fall, when the u.n.'s diplomatic efforts, kofi annan, the former secretary-general fell apart, that david petraeus, then the director of the cia and hillary clinton, the secretary of state, came up with the idea that the u.s. should begin to arm the rebels because it became clear the civil war was going to continue. what we didn't know until yesterday was that that proposal then went to the pentagon and the secretary of defense and top military man, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, general martin dempsey also agreed with that. the proposal went to the white house. but you know what? the president, there i
