departments are providing equal access to all city services. previously we divided city departments into tier 1 and tier 2 but it's important people be able to get what they need. we are going to be simplifying their complaint process with ocea so if a consumer wants to make a complaint about certain services they cannot access because of language difficulty, we want one place for them to file that complaint. we are streamlining the compliance process so more accurate information is captured. we do know from departments that got back to us about the difficulty of providing access to the city so we are trying to make it more meaningful. we are encouraging departments to translate public signage. this is something that will be new, making sure people approaching an office can see where they are supposed to go. lastly we are requiring that ocea maintain a qualified interpreter pool. in addition today i am offering some amendments, mostly clean up language but clarifying when some of the timelines would be for compliance. just to quickly go over th

it's a little harder for large trucks to drive around the city so it is very very important that we all get together and talk about what the best ways that we can do the business that we have to and still make sure that people can get around easily around our city. the large vehicle working group has been around for about a year. it is been formalized today but a lot of ideas have come out of that working group. in fact we take our sweepers to the sunday streets, put out on display and talk to bicyclists about the things they experience when large trucks are moving, so we take those into the working group. the working group is open to all kinds of ideas. i am very, very confident as we move forward we will change the way it is and make it much easier for large trucks to be able to do their business, but with that said there is still a lot of work that we have to do and we at public works are proud to embrace the two year plan of vision zero and i am very confident by 2024 that we will reach the goal of zero fatalities so i want to thank everyone. we still have a lot of work to do but it

april of last year we rolled out a change to the annual business registration fees for all registered business in the city. this was a large change for all taxpayers and important for the city to bring in money during the year we're for implementation purposes. the collections of the business registration's fees were designed to increase from $8 million to $38 million and our businesses complied and we hit that target nearly exactly. so before taxpayers even file for the gross receipts tax now at the end of the year the new tax approved by voters brought in over $30 million to the city coffers. during the process we had many of the concerns that the mayor talked about that we needed to know what was in the new law and we worked with the mayor's office of economic development and others to implement the most aggressive outreach strategy around a tax measure. this measure took an eacial of people to accomplish from the tax team in the city attorney's office and thank you to them. our experts at 311 and thank you nancy. the city administrator's office for hiring support and the controller's office and the ma

all at no cost and without any increase in drug prices. we aim to have at least five drop off locations in each district in the city. n francisco has actually been operating a small drug, dispose pilot program for about three years now. in that time, our pilot which now includes 12 independent pharmacies and one community center and all ten of our city's police stations has safely collected 23.5 tons of medicine. that's 47,000 pounds of chemicals that will not end up in our bay or in the wrong hands because of this program. clerkly, san francisco will use it if it's free, and convenient. imagine how much more we can collect and properly dispose if we can include more than 13 locations. the ordinance before you today, colleagues, will provide a safe disposal program. this is not a new or untested idea. it is an out growth of our pilot and it is informed by the similar programs in alameda and king county, washington. today is a combination of years of work and there are a lot of people that i want to thank for bringing this program forward. first and foremost, thank you to debbie ralphale and rodriguez and maggie at th

that is in couldn't ra ensuing of the mayor's executive direction 1301 which asks the board and all city agencies to preserve and promote rental housing so i ask that these permits not be issued so that mr. mccabe can maintain his tenancy in this unit. i also want to point out there is no notice of violation on this property. there is no action from ddi requiring that the property -- that the unit be demolished so the permit holder hand is not forced here and i am certain that mr. warren stein is going to make an argument that this is an illegal unit and no property owner should be required to continue renting an ill laoem unit and i would say to that, that this unit could be legalized, they could seek permits to legalize it and maintain the rental stock in the city, but that is not the goal of the permit holder the goal of the permit holder is to cash in on this real estate market and if it evicts a long term permanently stable tenant, so be it, and that is not just my opinion, that is what the permit holder's been doing for over two years now when they first issued on november 19 2012
