there are people coming forward and want to support this coalition that's designed to bring them all under the same tent so that we can really show just how committed he is. >> you're suggesting for a number of women across the country they hate to get tied to the label that they are only concerned about women's issues, that it's also, of course, about bigger issues of national security and immigration along with jobs and wages? >> absolutely. the concerns i hear from women on the front lines are things that affect everyday people. filling up their gas tank, prescriptions, health care, education, these are issues that women are concerned about that are not just women issues. they affect the fabric of america, and that's the american family. so if we address the concerns of the american family, we strengthen the unit, and you have a leader who will be able to advance us. women, men, of all races, creed, and gender. >> let's talk about the national diversity coalition that you are a part of, addressing how he's perceived. how do you hope to achieve this, and why do you think it makes a diffe

reporter: police say there is no evidence that these two men knew each other, but they also say that is all under investigation. so here's what we know at this point. police say that car dell hayes was in a hummer when he rear ended smith's mercedes suv. the two men exchanged words. authorities say that hayes started firing. there is one bizarre connection between the two men. take a look at this picture. it was taken just an hour before the shooting. in the picture, you can see will smith, the saints' player on the right. his former -- his friend, former new orleans police commander billy seravalo. we mentioned him on the left there, because he was sued by hayes, the alleged shooter, along with several other officers and the city of new orleans back in 2006 after a number of officers shot and killed hayes's father. that case was settled in 2011. here's what the police superintendent had to say about that connection. >> that is interesting. and right now, we're investigating the homicide, all of those facts. perhaps we'll ask questions about those and maybe see if there's any correlation. >> repo
