. >> abc7 news reporter allen wong joins with us more on the investigation. allen? >> yes. just a half an hour ago, oakland firefighters put out a spot fire across the ridge up there. and this is a the fire started around 2:00 this afternoon. it took about 300 feet of crews to get down there. when they got down there, it's full of poison oak. it took two drops to suck water out of merit lake. four alarm fire, with 90 firefighters total. let's take a look from sky 7 hd. you can see winds. that is what probably saved this thing from going as far as it did. we're only 3 to 5 miles per hour. this is off of mark and lemur just south of highway 13. turning live now to lisa baker with the oakland fire department. you're calling these very suspicious? >> we have three fires burning in various steep terrain, then, a half hour ago, a fire at the top of the canyon approximately ten by ten. >> so two main fires 12 acres, other about three and a half. if they started what does that say to you? >> it says that our fire investigator is on the scene. we're calling them suspicious at this t

breaking news we started with at the top in antioch as fire threatening homes. 7 news reporter allen wong live on the scene with the latest on this. alan? >> the fir started around 7:15 at the foot of the hill behind me and quickly raced up and wrapped around some of these homes. so it turned to 3 alarm fire very quickly. it was threatening about 40 homes on this hillside. but about 65 firefighters surrounded it from the bottom and the top and were able to put it out. what helped firefighters say was the fact that if you could see the homes up there have a brick wall voungd them that's pretty much where the fire started that's where firefighters were also standing with fair hoses to douse it out. winds also gemly low out here today. and it only, they were able to keep it to about 4 acres so right now snuving out the last hot spot in this 4 acre fire out here off pony drive in antioch. >> stay on the story of course. more on 7 news at 11:00 o'clock and on twitter. if i time abc 7 news bay area. >> san francisco arch bishop is revving to pwunl tonight. standing firm on his decision to atten
