allie rasmus is at fso where a red carpet is being rolled out for a group of dogs, allie? >> reporter: you can see at the san francisco dog shelter, there are 17 dogs leaving and boarding a flight. apparently there is an over abundance here of these dogs and you can see the cute little i love new york colors. they are on their way there to find new homes. this is not the first time they have done this and they are holding a friend, buster brown plus he has his own little i love new york color. as you said there is an over abundance here in california and a high demand in new york and they have been providing us with flights, this is our 4th flight where they will move through the shelter system quickly and they move very quickly in new york they want them badly and they go very quickly. it is a great opportunity for these dogs to get out of shelters and into new homes. they have the red car pet and they will find love in new york and on their way there, they will be the ones having cup cakes but they get the cute little red hoodies and colors so it is a good deal for them

allie rasmus joins us live from oakland police headquarters. allie, is there any word what led up to the gunfire? >> reporter: that's one of the things we're trying to find out. our last update from police was over an hour ago. we have reached out since then. we're waiting to hear back. this began with a robbery on 62nd avenue and hall street. that's over in east oakland. let's show you the video. it was around 11:30 last night when police got the call about a robbery. it wasn't at a house or a business. it was possibly someone robbed walking down the street. when police arrived, they saw two men in a vehicle they believed was connected to the robbery. one of the men jumped out and that's when he realized the man was armed. here's not clear -- we don't know if the suspect drew his weapon, but the officer ended up shooting the suspect, wounding him. at that point, the other man still in the car drove off. police are still looking for that second robbery suspect. they have told neighbors in the immediate area they are not in any immediate danger.

allie rasmus has more on what the protesters are angry about. allie?porter: protesters are sue supposed to gather here -- are supposed to gather here and the plan is to pack the courtroom to support some of the fellow protesters who were arrested last saturday. some of them have court dates apparently scheduled today. it was january 28th where 400 people were arrested during an occupied demonstration. a group tried to take over a vacant building at the old keizer convention center. that is when police used tear gas to control the raid. they called for a day of action to protest what they say was being a he is a sufficient police force. there is a full day planned at frank ogawa plaza at noon and then they will march back to the courthouse this afternoon something to keep in mind if you live and work in the downtown area. also around noon, a group that called itself, stand for oakland, they are made up of residents and they also plan to have what they are calling a silent rally to counterprotests and occupied oakland demonstrations. ktvu channel 2 news.
