allie rasmus is live on east 14th street, what happened allie? >> reporter: well the restaurant was on fire and the firefighter who cut his leg wild on the building trying cut holes to release some of the smoke that was trapped underneath the roof in the building and he ended up cutting his leg with a circular saw. he was immediately rushed to the medical center in caster valley. >> he has a good laceration to his leg. >> reporter: now when firefighters arrived there was heavy smoke and fire coming from the buildings but they don't know what sparked this fire but it appears to be the back storage room where a dumpster is stored and when we arrived there was still smoke coming from that dumpster.

allie rasmus is there with more on what rescue teams are trying to do. >> now that the sun is coming up, the coast guard helicopter is supposed to be on the way it to seem to do an aerial search. that's the body of water you see behind us. that bridge is where these two men were fishing overnight and one of them fell into the water. search and rescue crews have been here since three about this morning. three clock a.m. was when i got a report that a man had fallen into the napa river. two men, brother in-laws, sitting on a railroad bridge above the river. he was in a strong suit swimmer. the men fell off the bridge was carried into -- carried westward on the napa river. the other man whose brother-in- law lost sight of him and then called for help. overnight search crews did find what they believed were the

ktvu allie rasmus is there with the latest details and how the commute is effected now. morning, allie. >> reporter: this happened at 4:00 and now an hour and a half later we are finally starting to see a little bit of movement. as you mentioned this happened on interstate 680 southbound just before stone ridge drive. just in the last five minutes we've seen some of the chp officers move some of the flairs out of these lanes. that is because they will open the far left shoulder of 680 south at stone ridge. so they will be letting one lane of cars pass through this accident scene. and we showed you about half an hour ago all these cars that had their engines off and lights off because they have been waiting here for an hour. now you can see the chp officers getting ready to lead some of these cars. they will let them pass one lane the far left shoulder of interstate 680 to get around this accident. this was all closed off up until right now. you see the first car actually being led by chp through this accident scene because of an accident involving a car that hit a pedest

allie rasmus is there at the scene on east 14th with more on how this firefighter was injured, good morning raleigh. >> reporter: it started on east 14th street and that back door area is where the firefighters are where they have a flashlight and they are still checking out some of the damage. in that area there was a lot of heavy smoke and they sent several firefighters onto the roof to release the smoke so ground crews can go inside. one of the firefighter cut himself with a circular saw. it was a serious cut but they think he will be okay. meanwhile they continue to fight the two-alarm fire and they are trying to keep the smoke and fire from spreading to the rest of the restaurant. >> the guys actually did a great job in knocking down the roof relatively quickly. >> reporter: now i spoke briefly to one of the managers of the grill, he said this restaurant has been here for seven years and they have no idea how the fire started. you can see somebody is still going through the back storage room and that's because of that fire that they are now under investigation, allie rasmus, ktvu chann

ktvu allie rasmus joins us live to explain their message. good afternoon allie. >> reporter: this group got here around 11:30 be a group of them gathered outside the richmond refineries gone gates. there was 70-100 people out here with their signs. it looks like a few of the people in the group have left and the demonstration may be coming to an end. one of the things we did notice is that the chevron signs that are normally displayed have been covered up with plywood. one of the things the group here is calling for for is for more government and public oversight of chevron and other oil companies and stricter safety standards to prevent the type of fire that happened here last month. the protestors also say oil companies should be nationalized and publicly controlled and chevron should pay more in taxes to support richmond schools and the local communities. the protests began at washington park around 10:00 this morning. then the group marched and made their way here to the front gates of chevron. the march was organized by the group united
