what's the latest, allison?e new pictures of just the extent of the damage. we've been seeing buildings completely levelled. allison, where is the threat now. >> right. it's just a little further east of where it has been for the much of the last 12 to 24 hours. it's not necessarily a very fast-moving system. overall, we've had over 30 tornado reports, over 100 severe wind reports and about 20 large hail reports. again, this is just the last 24 hours or so. but the threat is not gone. now, it is shifting farther east. some of the communities that were hardest hit the last 12 to 24 hours they're starting to see an end to it, but for other communities it's really just starting to ramp back kentucky, tennessee, alabama, as well as mississippi. although most in mississippi are starting to come back down to an end. the system as a whole. it's huge. it stretches all the way from new hampshire. all the way back towards texas. however, the main focus when we talk about severe storms has really been in the center portion

cnn meteorologist allison chinchar is monitoring all of this. what do we need to know, allison?st 24 hours have been, the storm is not over just yet. it's just shifting a little farther east. so far, it's produced over 30 tornado reports, over 100 severe wind reports and large hail reports but the storm system is still ongoing. one of the most devastating portions in the last 24 hours perhaps one particular tornado that potentially lasted more than 200 miles. that's this white line you see here. you can see the pink and purple boxes popping up along it, those are the tornado issues issued. and the red and white dots, those are tornado reports. now, we don't if this was one consistent tornado or if this was a couple of them coming back up, coming back down. we're going have to wait for confirmation on that until the national weather service can goal out and survey the damage that was left behind to determine a lot of the specifics. what we know how, the severe threat is still ongoing. you still have several states looking at tornado watches looking at kentucky, tennessee, as well

all right, allison, what can we expect out there?rain that's going to sliding in. on the northern side of this system we're talking about snow and, yes, even some ice which we obviously know is very dangerous to drive on. in addition to some areas getting a mix of all three. the greatest threat for ice is across portions of the northeast, interstate 90, i-88, i-87, please give yourself extra distance, and extra time, if you plan to be on the road. widespread totals of snowfall, 2 to 4 inches. the higher in elevation, farther north you go, those numbers sick up 4, 6, even 8 inches. down to the southeast, this is where we're talking about potential for heavy rain, and severe storms mainly focused along the gulf coast region. the main threat, damaging winds and potential for hail. again, the main focus is right there along the gulf coast regions. all of these areas have a potential for flooding as well, especially as you get consistent bands that make their way through these areas. we're also keeping an eye on a system making its way th
