fox5's melanie alnwick live from medstar hospital in northwest with the very latest.el, what can you tell us. >> reporter: good morning, guys we're standing by for a briefing with d.c. fire ems and a representative from the city to talk about not only what happened with the one firefighter who was critically injured but really just the response that it too, to take care of these incidents four separate incidents happening in a matter of hours and that did require some crews from neighboring jurisdictions to come in and backfill some of those fire stations. let's talk first of all about buchanan street. that was the third of four incidents. that is the one in which the d.c. firefighters are credited perhaps with saving this elderly couple that was trapped inside their home. now, that particular fire, that happened about 12:23 in the morning. they were told that two fourth district police officers heard the call over the radio. they were the closest to the scene and so that's when they got there first. they ran in and they helped this elderly couple get out of the house

melanie alnwick live for us this morning on this story., mel. >> reporter: good morning, steve and allison. this is a kind of story that's really just touched so many here in the community. we just had a mom with a small child stop by here and put these flowers just overlooking where the car went over the creek because people who drive this road well know an accident like this it could have been them it could have been any of their family members. which it you willy was a family member from new jersey who was helping police with the search that made the terrible disc discovery. family members had spent the weekend searching for any sign of 27-year-old courtney ash, her nine-year-old cousin jaelin sills russell and five-ar son cameron martin. emergency crews rushed down evergreen mills road monday evening after courtney ash's car was spotted upside down in a creek. the three were reported missing saturday morning when they didn't return to courtney's uncle's home in leesburg. only about a 20 minute drive. courtney with the two boys had left
