abc 7 news reporter alyssa harrington is live in oakland. police just told you what prompted the stand-off. >> reporter: yeah, there are still a few police officers on scene, but they're wrapping things up very quickly. they tell me that this happened at a residence where there was a suspected marijuana grow. they were then looking for the home invasion suspects who they believed were still hiding inside, but they did not find anybody. this break-in happened around 5:30 this morning. the suspects threatened the person who lives there. i'm told that that victim is okay. he was not hurt. officers arrived and they were able to detain one suspect, the rest ran. police thought that some of them were hiding in the building. they used s.w.a.t. teams to try and get them out. >> we do have a k-9 unit that is on scene here. and like i said, we do have our tactical operations team also here with their resources. and we'll use whichever resources we see as necessary to want to establish contact with whoever might be in the building. >> reporter: again,

alyssa harrington has the story. >> reporter: these firefighters from agencies all over the bay areare packing up. and heading out on a 30-hour drive to texas. the 70-person task force activated by fema, will provide support in the disaster zone of hurricane harvey. >> i suspect we will be doing some search and rescue operations in water-inundated areas. we'll also be providing mass health care. >> reporter: at a warehouse in oakland, they pack up food, medical supplies and life-saving equipment like saws and rope. task force 4 helped out in other disasters like 9/11 and hurricane katrina. one of the most important tools, canines. >> we'll locate trapped victims, live victims, and any of the destruction. >> reporter: this is the first time 11-year-old keeno will be deployed. >> they're priceless. they can search an area much faster and more efficiently than any human or any scientific tool. >> reporter: firefighters could be in the hurricane zone for weeks. this is where they'll stay. they're bringing dozens of these shelters. this is where rescue teams will sleep. they're used as me

abc7 news reporter alyssa harrington is here with the latest on this developing news. >> reporter: eric, one man was critically burned in this fire, but it could have been a whole lot worse if not for the brave actions of one neighbor who ran into this burning building. the fire started around 7:15 tonight. our emeryville camera shows the thick, dark cloud of smoke over the city. katherine tippett shared this video of the flames pouring out of a third story unit. inside that burning apartment was a man lying on the floor and yelling for help. a man who lives in the building next door saw the smoke and knew he had to do something. he ran into that burning building and helped the man get outside before rescuers got there. >> i started yelling to him, like get up, get out. get out. then finally he kind of snapped out of it and came to. so i said, don't worry about your stuff. just get up and get out. his hands were all burned. but i just felt like hi to get in there and help someone, so i did. >> reporter: the victim was taken to highland hospital to be treated for burns. at one point, all
