good morning, i'm ama daetz. >> i'm eric thomas. police were called to the scene just after 4:30 this morning and homicide investigators are there right now looking for clues. we're live on fruitvale avenue with the latest. amy? reporter: behind me you can see the police car in front of the home, which is tucked back away from this street. and then if you look over here you can see where flowers have been left by a neighbor for their neighbors. neighbors tell us they don't think this is a home invasion. they are not feeling nervous for their safety at this time. they suspect this was a mercy killing of a disabled woman and then the suicide of a terminally ill elderly man. police got the call at 4:30 this morning to come to the home where they found two people inside, who had been shot and killed. word is starting to spread throughout the neighborhood. one woman we talked to, i irene said the man who lived her was in his 80s and a friendly neighbor. >> we have lived here 25 years and his house is a bunch of those back to his house. s

good evening, i'm ama daetz. thank you for joining us. here's the latest. governor jerry brown is requesting a judge order a 60-day cooling off period tomorrow if an agreement is not reached by then. the union is against the move but no one has filed papers opposing it. the judge does have the authority to rule against the request, though that is considered unlikely. the judge's decision is expected tomorrow morning. until then negotiations continue this weekend. we're tracking the talks in oakland. any progress? reporter: slight progress. both sides are still talking. that 60-day cooling off period is putting pressure on both sides to reach a deal. one union says the strike may not happen now but it could happen later. >> both sides in the b.a.r.t. talks returned to bargaining saturday, knowing another deadline clock is ticking down. >> the last day to really be able to reach an agreement. if we don't do it today, i think then it's going to be harder for the parties to come to an agreement. >> the governor will seek a 60-day cooling off period if there's n

good evening, i'm ama daetz. they are trying to hammer out a plan. how contract talks progressed today. >> bart management and the two unions representing bart workers went into negotiations at 10:00 this morning hopeful. >> both sides are meeting. that is positive. >> they are working against tomorrow night's strike deadline. >> we have to get all the information on the table. >> after two hours of talks, they parted way for a lunch break. >> i hope we're not wasting our time. that is our intent to get it done. nobody wants a strike and unions don't either. >> union negotiator didn't offer an update on the progress but made it clear when he returned an hour and a half later they were too busy to eat. bart riders are action for an outcome remembering last month's bart strike. >> traffic was horrible. i had to give myself an hour and a half which would be normally a 20 minute commute and i would still be late. >> yeah, even, no matter which alternative i go for it will be slammed. >> the lead bart negotiator told me off camera he doesn't think a deal

i'm ama daetz. b.a.r.t. trains will run tomorrow.d a 60-day cooling-off period, delaying a strike threatened by b.a.r.t. workers. we were in court for the ruling, one that eases stress for bay area commuters. >> what i'm hearing in effect from the parties is people are in agreement that i go ahead and sign the final injunction, lasting 60 days. >> en in an unusual weekend hearing, the san francisco superior court judge grant for jerry brown's request for a 60-day cooling-off period in the contentious b.a.r.t. negotiations. meaning talks can continue, unions can't strike, and trains will keep running. the ruling reads in part a strike or lockout will significantly disrut public transportation services and endanger the health, safety and welfare. commuters were relieved to hear the news today. >> that's fantastic. i use b.a.r.t. probably four or five days a week, and if they went on strike, it would cause have vac in the -- havoc in the bay a

i'm ama daetz. she will be reunited with her father tomorrow. the disappearance triggered a multistate amber alert. the suspected kidnapper was killed by an f.b.i. agent. here is the latest. >> a six day manhunt stretching from san diego to idaho for a double murder suspect and girl he allegedly abducted hannah anderson is over. >> during an arrest attempt at the north end of moorehead lake in idaho, the suspect james lee dimaggio was shot and killed by an f.b.i. tactical agent. hannah was successfully rescued and appears to be in good shape. >> it was a homicide suspect that was in a very regd area. we wanted to bring the teenager home safely and that is what exactly happened. >> 200 especially trained law enforcement officers penetrated the wilderness to find the suspect and teenager, three days after dimaggio allegedly killed 8-year-old brother ethan and their mother in their home in san diego and then burned it to the ground. her father brett anderson desperately wanted to have his daughter back. >> he is grateful that we found his daughter

ama daetz is here to show you some of the most amazing images. >> ama: it was quite the display of lightning. the national weather service says there were more than 15,000 strikes overnight. if you somehow missed the show, here's a look at what we saw. >> thunderstorms across the bay area brought flashes of light across the night sky. these strikes illuminated the night over emeryville. the national weather service bay area tweeted that in just one hour this morning, there were 135 strikes over the pacific. most of the spectacular lightning show was over the ocean. but san mateo county saw several great flashes and the north and east bay saw their share as well. this amazing photo was taken by mike, it shows an impressive strike over pacifica. a dueling light show over san francisco. vicki says, the thunder, was drowned out by the sound of the wind and waves crashing to shore. >> this instagram photo shows a bolt of energy just beyond at&t park. unfortunately, it wasn't enough to ignite the giants against the red sox last night. a loss for the giants but a flashy show for the fans. >> hopefu

ama daetz has the ght off. there is a manhunt in oakland right now as police search for a gunman who shot four people. john alston is live now to tell us what happened. good evening, john. reporter: another violentnd outrageous shooting in thebooks for oakland, happening in daylight on telegraph avenue. started a little after 4:00 with an apparent break-in, in that white car where a window was smashed and a purse was stolen. it ended minutes later across the strt on telegraph, as the bad boy's hair salon where four people were shot. it started when there was a commotion, and a purse was stolen, a man saw that it was his girlfriend's purse and ran down 18th street after two men, cnfronted them, got the pue back, and as he was walkg back to the bad boys salon, he realized there was a shooting. we spoke to him exclusively. >> just running around here looking for them, and before i could get back, i hear a bunch of sirenses and when i hit the corner i see people on the groundnd i found out my girl got shot, and all
