. >> i'm ama daetz. the u.s. forest service is investigating the death of david role. he was helping battle the frog fire in far northern california. the crews found his body this morning. >> the u.s. forest service tweeted this picture of a purple ribbon in tribute to this fallen firefighter. the service will be lowering the flags in his honor. and governor brown issued a statement writing firefighter role will be remembered for his service and bravery and we extend our deepest condolences. >> the fire is one of 23 major fires burning up and down the state. governor brown declared a state of emergency. the order allows the california national guard to help fight the fires and clears california to get help from other states. >> another fire is burning out of control in lake county near clear lake. >> it has charred more than 18,000 acres and is just five% contained. alan wang has the latest. >> tonight erratic winds stirred up flames that let 10ed to jump morgan valley road. this is where most of the evacuations took place and this is where the crews from california ma

i'm ama daetz. >> i'm larry beil. cell phone video shows the flames here. this all started when alameda county deputies showed up to evict the people living there. >> this happened in west oakland. abc 7 news reporter laura anthony joins us with this live chain of events. >> reporter: the coroner and oakland fire investigators are involved in what started as a routine eviction procedure that ended with an explosion and fire that left one man dead and two deputies with minor injuries. neighbors told abc 7 news they first heard a loud boom and then ran out to see this. a home at 14th and peralta completely engulfed in flames. >> it went boom and you saw police officers running from the house. >> reporter: the back portion erupted just as two sheriffs deputies and a locksmith were serving an eviction notice on the man who lived there. >> making zee to the lock. an explosion in the home that sent both deputies to the hospital with minor injuries. >> that's when i heard the second boom. >> reporter: jane
