i'm ama daetz. developing news in the shooting. happened last night. bullets flew in a chaotic scene. at first police didn't know if innocent bystanders were shot. tonight we have a better idea what happened. we're live at san francisco's hall of justice withan update. reporter: the man who died of gunshot wounds has been identified as 24-year-old man of san francisco. the other man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries has not been identified. and homicide investigators are looking at to whether or not these two victims were involved in the original altercation that led to the gun battle. >> i tried counting and counting 15 shots. >> did not want his last name used, is talking about the gun battle on saturday night. police were called to the area at 9:40. after reports of a raging gun battle. the police chief described the incident when officers arrived. >> the suspect, when he was in the intersection, was shooting back on what they believe to be two suspects on the north side of the street shooting back at him. >> ross, who lives here at th

good evening, i'm ama daetz. the suspect wa covered in blood. police say he emptied his revolverer before surrendering. here are pictures sent to us. weapons are drawn and looking for the gunman. after pulling out his revolverer and shooting he ducked into a mexican restaurant and apparently ran out of bullets and surrendered. police chief picks it up from there. >> a store. we found two deceased females suffering from wounds that will be determined by the medical examiner, possible gunshot wounds we can't make the determination at this time. another male was suffering from gunshot wounds. he was transported to general whom where right hue nou he is in in stable condition. >> there was a second suspect but it turned out not to be the case. this man had been in the jewelry mart before. they are still investigating his relationship to the women that died and man that was shot. she in critical but stable condition. he a picture of the lower level tunnel as the shooting was going on. construction crew says they heard two shots and a lot of commotion

i'm katie marzullo in for ama daetz. both sides talked but they made little progress. they met this afternoon bart says there has been progress, the unions say not as much as they hoped. they arrived for talks wearing heroin shirts. the unions also claim hawks has a conflict of interest. he is getting paid nearly $400,000 to represent bart and he is a vice president of the transportation. they say the company was paid nearly $30,000 to provide shuttle bus service during a recent strike. they filed a complaint with the bart bord of directors. >> because he is the vice president of labor relations, it indicates that he has a financial interest in the on can you say of strike and perhaps could even gain from a prolonged strike. >> we do have a contract with veolia. we use east bay paratransit to accommodate passengers in the strike that. bill comes through veoli you a and has $200 fee but i don't think it's a big issue. >> he says he was not involved with the choice of transit companies to pick up slack. talks are rescheduled for monday. 30-day contract extension ends nex

good evening, i'm ama daetz. we do have developing news out of downtown oakland. the protest has continued near 12th street and broadway. a.c. transit is rerouting buses around area. rally started with several dozen people at 4:00 this afternoon. they chanted and gave speeches as the crowd grew. they marched into west oakland and they even stopped traffic at times. they say the hope of public display raised public awareness about the decision. >> it's a great injustice what happened this weekend and everybody stopped and this thinks for a second, hey, this is could have been my child. >> last night, a much different scene, a small group vandalized the downtown area. keira shows the cleanup today. >> downtown oakland is riddled with damage from last night's demonstration that turned to destruction. they showed about hundred people marching from the plaza after the verdict was read. they shattered windows and graffiti businesses and vandalized a police car. protestors used blocks to break the windows as customers took cover under tables. >> it was scary for everyone

good evening, i'm ama daetz. sergio quintana is live at the scene with more. sergio? reporter: this is a pretty busy muni line and there are quite a few people aboard the train during the crash. this happened just before 1:00 this afternoon. from sky 7hd can you can see the light muni rail vehicle at rest on the tracks and a white van next to it. the van was driving alongside the muni train and hit it as the van driver attempted to make a left turn in front of the train. the driver of the van was transported to the hospital. 19 people board the muni were taken to three area hospitals for minor injuries. people aboard described for us what happened. >> i was super scared. really scared. i didn't know what it was. i just seep it come in, and i had to cover up my baby. >> there's video on file with the muni. light-rail vehicle and this particular intersection that has a video monitor also. reporter: this crash did affect the t-line for a couple of hours and muni used buses to shuttle passengers from downtown into the neighborhood. a little more than an hour ago the muni

i'm in for ama daetz. we have developing news. the latest round of negotiations is happening right now in oakland. still some union members say the two sided are very far apart. to the mass roman has the latest from just outside the location of the negotiations. reporter: we're just seven hours away from a possible bart strike that could strand some 400,000 bart passengers early tomorrow morning. now, negotiations are going on across the street here at caltrans headquarters on grand avenue. we were told that bart is willing to go all night and extend talks if necessary to avoid a strike. >> negotiators for bart and the unions filed into the building at 3:30. this union negotiator had this to say: >> we're very far apart. we have not pitch up. we were at the table for a day and a half and the district never showed up. >> he says the distance for're the two has been significant. bart workers asking for a 5% pay hike and 2% cost of living. the union says it will may half a percent toward its pension which is now fully funded by bart.

i'm ama daetz. we begin with developing news in the george zimmerman case. the protests right no here in the bay area. three rallies, one in san francisco. the two protests are also underway in oakland, two there. john alstons monitoring the situation own the -- on the ground. reporter: speakers have been going on for an hour here outside of oakland city hall. they have had several rallies that had been previously scheduled around the bay area for the day after the george zimmerman not guilty verdict. speakers have been surrounded by supporters here. some are holding signs featuring trayvon martin's face. the speeches haved a times been angry, slamming the police and the justice system. sometimes in profane terms and have been strategizing, saying there is power and numbers and could shut down oakland if they want to but would want to do it without damage. the verdict has re-ignited passions of residents still angry over the death of oscar grant. >> too many lives being loves and nothing done, and people need they still need to fight for this young black men

good evening, i'm ama daetz. >> streets around the crime scene are still blocked off while police finish their search. this tragedy began this morning and sky 7 over the scene. a search is underway and police interviewing witnesses right now. we have team coverage. mark let's begin with you we're here where the best information we have received so far comes from a couple people. chief of police and ken lamb who owns may's jewelry inside where the shootings took place. we're going to hear from them. >> we believe from video there was one suspect. we believe that is the person we have in custody. out of caution, s.w.a.t. is clearing the building. >> then, we go. just went inside of the store to clean it up. put jewelry away. then, that is it. a lot of police cars coming in. and had to stay inside. >> ken lamb says he saw a woman on the floor in her shop just as he was being evacuated out of the building. police arrived three officers were responding to a call. they're on the north side of brannan street walking up towards the gift mart they saw a man covered in blood. police say they walke

good evening, i'm ama daetz. >> tonight uptown area is bracing for another weekend of protests. no one knows what to expect and no one wants more violence and vandalism. mark matthews is live where organizers are predicting a massive protest tomorrow. >> and behind me, you can see people gathering for a march. as you said, police all promising this weekend will be peaceful. oakland businesses have been hard hit. tonight a fleet of vans pa outside waiting to ferry officers to wherever they might be needed. california bank and trufrt isn't trusting nouf take down the plywood to take down their windows. bank of america windows boarded up for the weekend. a lumber yard says businesses have playwood left over from occupy protests and tlt is around uptown. tribune building lost $6,000 worth of glass sunday when there was no protest. organizers are promising to make steps to make it peaceful. >> we're ending at 3:00 it's going to be in one location we did agree if any violence occurs we're going to end the demonstration then and there. a number. residents tell me they're going to stay
