amanda: oh man, many thanks. and i think that one thing that i changed my mind about was that i had sort of docketed different conflicts in different categories and i now think like about polarization was a thank you. i don't think that's very helpful like i think everything that i havehi seen human behavir in different kinds of conflict whether it's getting conflict or political conflict, the behavior as a fundamental level is not that different. so i am trying t to do less and overlook the research and i look at storytelling. and the other thing that i would say is i have become much more suspicious of my own righteousness. when it flares up. i want to be careful because sometimes people say it sounds like i am saying that you can't passionate or you can be angry we can have radical ideas. ni think we need to get more nuance and we talk about these things because you can have really radical visions and movements for social change and we need those things. without me in high conflict. so at some the differences

i really empathize with amanda and what she went through. rightfully found innocent and acquitted in the meredith kercher case. she has platforms to speak her truth and engage with the media and she is exercising her right to do so. she hasn't seen "stillwater." years ago i made a film named spotlight and we worked closely with the real-life subjects and used real names and events within the film. that was not the case with "stillwater" since it is a work of fiction. there were few entry points that sparked the narrative, but the narrative goes in a completely different direction and the character and stories are all invented. another entry point for the screen writing is a relationship that a relative of mine had with her father who was absent and struggled with addiction. i had a series of phone interviews with her as she carefully laid out the painful dynamic and dysfunction of their relationship in those relations, were core to the relationship between our central character bill baker in the film. two relatives were incarcerated and expl

amanda: it is tricky because i'm teenage son and is living in the world, he's reading the news and it is very easy for him to slip into this sort of sweeping generalization about good people and bad people and i get that. and i don't want to just the person is always like, well let's look at the full picture. but i also have found that if i try to connect to his own life or own family, that can be helpful like how to resolve conflict among your friends printed soccer game or interfamily. and think about how would we overlay that really sounds maybe too simplistic but i actually think it is actually complex to try to make that connection. and the thing to do which you mentioned and i do this and all of my interviews now to predict and this probably change most for me personally and professionally is a do this techniquehi which is sweeping ad other forms of it out there as well but when someone is telling me something, but they are bringing any level of emotion two, it can be low level of emotion for somebody said, like it is upset about something happening in the world are as like, the
