amb. chacon: i have a superteam. i'm there he proud of them. christopher: ambassador hillman, let me turn to you for your perspective on this and for the canadian outlook on the roadmap and where we are headed. amb. hillman: thank you very much. great to see you on the screen. i am really happy to join you. i will try and go over the some of this in a way that i think the ambassador has covered a lot of important elements of the roadmap and the things we are doing together. i will try and add some different elements there. i think to start with, talking a little bit about what the document is, because i don't know how many of your participants in this session are familiar with the traditional leaders statement or joint statements that come out of meetings that leaders have, with the bilaterally or in groups. but for those of you, you know, who are looking into this kind of thing on a regular basis, you know that generally speaking they are short, one page maybe, maybe less, to be two pages

amb.arshefsky: it's a pleasure to be here and to put a plug-in for jonathan's new book, it is terrific. the topics we will be discussing during this hour, congratulations on that. let me say as a scene setter, the u.s. has long supported international development, including the development of infrastructure, starting with the marshall plan, with which you are all familiar. it's a lot of money, but a tiny percentage of our budget, which is unfortunate. what we see generally is in specific projects like power africa and so on, when u.s. money goes in, it is a force multiplier. private capital will often follow. as will capital from other countries. i think the u.s. population generally continues to support infrastructure assistance and humanitarian bases. there are five things that have happened that have challenged what have traditionally been leadership in this area, certainly leadership in the west. first is the global need for infrastructure is astonishingly high. it is estimated in the

amb. barshefsky: sorry about that. you would think i would remember. the ict sector, digital sector, is obviously critical, the backbone of industry, the backbone of services. it is what creates bid flows, data flows, the backbone of artificial intelligence premise that these systems writ large are crucial. you don't have a future economy if you don't have sufficiently sophisticated infrastructure with respect to the digital economy. the u.s. obviously has a competitive advantage with respect to it, but we don't offer a full suite of services. we don't offer a full suite of hardware. we don't offer a full suite of software. so those issues, which i think are important to the build back better and other programs, need to be resolved. i mention i would have loved to see vaccines more robustly coming out of build back better, and also the announcement of a business consortium between major u.s., japanese, and european companies who had devised a turnkey project to rollout on digital infrastructure, because no government is building this stuff, so that wou

and we had magnet schools and that is good for the student, but worse because it funnels all of the ambdents out of public school into the magnet schools. when i was in south carolina, it became very segregated. we tried to take as many minorities -- there was a 30 mile difference in where the high school was in the charter school was off of i 20. i wish they would be more honest and let people know that you have the students pay for everyone -- everything they do. if you are not a wealthy family in these charter schools, you are going to miss out on everything from art and raising the salaries, we did a good job of that. fox creek high school is probably one of the best high school charter schools in the nation. guest: i look forward to visiting that school. if you're getting limited dell, especially in states where the allocation at the district level is low, you will have to make concessions and unfortunately, a lot of things are thing's that go by the wayside. this is partially why a lot of charter schools have the raise money and they are part instructional leader and part instruct
