amber. thank you.vacuation orders are in place right now for people living in burn areas hit by last month's wildfires in southern california. and this story does begin tonight's west coast rap in the area of the palisades fire. specifically, rain is leading to a buildup of mud piled up so high it's pouring over k-rails on palisades drive for people with homes still standing after the devastating fires. la city fire asking them to leave, warning of possible flash flooding and mudslides even before the worst of the rain. parts of sunset flooded with mud and rock, making it onto the pacific coast highway. further east, many people living near the eaton fire burn area have been told to evacuate their homes. police officers went door to door in the community of sierra madre, telling residents to pack up and go because of the threat of mudslides and debris flows. the nearby pasadena creek look more like a river, and neighbors say their homes were saved from last month's fire, but now they're worried about t

amber. thank you.t we are learning that a uc berkeley professor emeritus was killed in a deadly hit and run crash in oakland. the coroner did identify the victim as 77 year old michael burawoy. he taught sociology at cal. police say he was in the crosswalk at grand avenue and parkview terrace last night, 715, when he was struck by an suv. the driver fled the scene of the crash. police did not provide any details on the driver. anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the police department. >> two san francisco police officers are in the hospital tonight after they were assaulted in their patrol vehicle. it happened just before 4 p.m. near o'farrell and polk streets. police say a man approached their vehicle, opened the driver's side door and started assaulting both officers without provocation. the officers worked to detain the suspect as multiple units responded to help. the suspect was taken into custody and the officers are being treated for non-life threatening injuries. >> all ri

amber, thank you for that. alameda county's new district attorney was officially sworn into office at the board of supervisors meeting this afternoon. the supervisor selected superior court judge ursula jones dixon after interviewing seven finalists. judge dixon says her top priority is to build a cohesive team of prosecutors. she said she is lifting limitations on how the official charges cases, including the filing of criminal enhancements. >> we're really concerned about public safety, so clearly that's an issue. that's how we got here. the da's job is to make sure, as the top law enforcement officer in the county, that we are tending to the public safety of the community. in addition to that, keeping victims at the center of that process. >> judge dixon replaces former da pamela price, who was recalled by county voters in november. the judge will serve until the election next year, and she did add that she does plan to run for the office. >> community organizations are protesting oakland's move to cut milli
