ktvu amber lee is on the scene. we are at 1101 embarcadero where schnitzer steel is located. firefighters are on the scene. we can see them spraying water on the debris pile. you can see a crane on the edge of your screen. from news chopper 2, we can see the massive evident to put this fire out with plenty of water. i just got off the phone with the fire battalion chief and he is telling us that what is burning is scrap metal there is no shelter in place at this point, no other advisory. we see plenty of cranes working to separate the scrap metal to get to the fire. to give you another perspective, another fire burned here two and a half years ago. this ace shredding facility for vehicle, appliances and other items. and that fire, two and a half years ago, the cause was spontaneous combustion. we don't know at this point ways causing this. incident commanders are telling us he is too busy to give us a lot of details. that is what we know. we can see a lot of cars parked out here. we do not see a lot of people out here. we will, can, bring that to you when we have more. report
