amelia draper is in the storm center right now. explain what an ef-2 tornado really means. >> it means we're seeing maximum sustained winds of 125 miles an hour, you're seeing some damage like you were there in derrick's video. you have the house actually lifted off of the foundation and moved a little bit. take a look here, national weather service did issue a tornado warning for this storm center and mount holly confirming this afternoon that there was, in fact, ef-2 tornado. it's hard to believe how much damage it was done in four 1:33. now, on the eastern shore, haven't seen a tornado and about 15 years, pretty unusual, for the timing. i have the radar loop here from about 1 to 2:00 a.m. and you can see, i circled here, stevensville area, a lot of lightning, very heavy rain fall, and, of course, a tornado moving throughout that time. i'm tracking some isolated areas of rain some thunderstorms back to the west, what that means for our evening here coming up in a little bit. >>> here at the live desk we're following breaking news

meteorologist amelia draper has her eye on that path and the strength of this storm. what's happening right now. >> wendy, as you said, emily downgraded to tropical it moves out into the atlantic, it will likely strengthen again and become a tropical storm. the best news for our area, very little impact. it will be rip currents at the beaches. but take a look at the radar right now and this is the system that tropical depression bringing widespread 2 to 4 inches to parts of florida. isolated amounts of 8 inches has been related. here is the latest, maximum winds at 35 miles an hour. it's moving toward the east northeast at about 12 miles per hour. take a look, tomorrow it strengths back to tropical storm. it stays off the coast and then it heads out to sea, having little impact on anywhere but florida. so some good news there. we have video from damage that this system did brings to parts of florida. take a look, here we are where you can see damage to roof there. and then also some flooding in st. petersburg where about 1 to 2 inches of rain was reported and that did

. >> wash, rinse, repeat, same amelia draper in the storm center, you got a close eye on the track of this storm. >> absolutely, my biggest concern is going to be along the corridor and parts of northern virginia further to the east, maybe even into prince williams county, the national weather service talking about a severe thunderstorm watch. they're saying, looking at the radar right now, looking outside is beautiful. take a look back to our west, this impressive line of thunderstorm is moving toward the southeast. you can see based on the latest track as it moves to west virginia it continues into mainly parts of northern virginia, potentially into parts of the district and maryland, as well. i think this area that i'm going to circle has the biggest concern for some severe weather this evening, heavy rain and gusty winds. as it moves further to the east, including into the dc metro area, we're talking scattered showers at that point, it's going to lose some of its mustard. 90 degrees. we're totally in the clear for the next few about maybe taking the kids to late pool date. walk,

hay amelia draper, she's outside our studios with a look at the july fourth forecast. nice one day, can we get a one? >>. >> reporter: no rain in the forecast thi unfortunately i cannot guarantee that tomorrow night. there's about a 30% chance that you'll be dealing with some rain or thunderstorm. it's not going to be a wash out, it's nothing to cancel your plans over. you want to keep that in the back of your mind. take a look at storm team 4 radar. we're dry out there this evening. we have to look around the pittsburgh area to find any thunderstorms. we're at 91 hot degrees, thankfully the humidity isn't too bad by 9 t:00 it will be in the mid-80s. i'm jumping ahead now, fireworks time tomorrow night, 9:00, don't necessarily focus on the exact places but the fact that there are hit and miss thunderstorms out there across the area, especially north and west of town. i think if you're heading to the national mall tomorrow night for that fireworks display, you should be okay, but other community fireworks could be dealing with a bit of storminess. i want to mention last
