put it simply, america's coming back, america's on the move. [applause] and that wasn't an accident, it wasn't luck. it happened for two reasons. first, you made the vaccine program a priority. -- we made the vaccine program a priority. as my friends in congress tell you, i got a lot of heat for just focusing on the vaccine. it was back to what we were talking about, you've got to fix the pandemic before you can fix the economy. we were able with a lot of hard work to get 600 million doses of vaccine, enough for every single solitaire american. we didn't have enough vaccinators. so i went to fema, the united states military, the ama and got retired docs and nurses to see -- to come out of retirement, got thousands and thousands of additional people to administer the vaccines that we didn't have before. we created more places to get vaccinated, hitting my target to ensure that 90% of all americans would have a vaccination site within five miles of where they live. and now, 50% of all of america, more than any other country, is fully vaccinated.

what will help america more? increase the educational standard of all americans so they have school from two years, three years old, four years old, five years old, we show if they're not putting daycare, but go to school, no matter the background, they catch up. 58% of them go to college. we know that now. we also know that if you give two years of free community college, you are in a situation where you are in the position where you have in your state and every other state in america, the last two years, all those credits are available to the state university and you get a four-year degree at half the cost or get a two-year degree and do which are able to do. it will increase the average income by over 20% for someone in america for the rest of their lives. so folks, the fact is, as i said, i am not looking to punish anyone. i come from the corporate state of the world, from delaware. more corporations are incorporated in delaware than every other state in the union combined, but guess what? i am sick and tired

what's better for america? a tax cut to make corporations richer and ceos richer and investments that are going to make our country stronger, more competitive, and lift up the standard for everybody. and by the way, this is not punishing anybody. all those folks are still going to have two homes, and three homes, their jets. won't matter. not going to change their standing one little bit. not surprisingly, critics say they worry that i'm going to stunt economic growth by raising taxes on corporations and wealthy. there's just one problem with their argument. the facts. experts have looked at it. the last time taxes were around the rates i'm proposing was in the '90s and the economy boomed. america created 20 million new jobs in 8 years when these were the tax rates, and the facts are, the american economy has had record job creation and growth under the same kind of plan i'm proposing, and here's why. our economy has always done best when everyone pays their fair share. again, i'm not looking to punish anybody.
