as a pediatric care physician he cared for real children for 14 years and continues to bring that patient centered perspective as the secretary of health for his primary goal is leading americans to live healthier lives. without further ado please join me welcoming my friend and ken's dish and-- and constituent brett giroir. >> thank you very much. it's really a privilege and an honor. i've waited for years to start a speech this way so i will do it. howdy. i want to congratulate everyone for the tremendous work. i was able to read a copy of the white paper by the institute and i think the critical seminal piece of work that will serve as a guidepost nationally and internationally and i've geared my remarks based on that. i've been feeding on this problem for about 25 years. the first is titled the public health system is a national security issue. i think it continues to be that way 25 years later. i'm certainly not the main person at hhs. bob cadillac is the person championing these efforts. if he's batman i try to be a good robin on these issues moving forward. this is not a canned talk. this is something i tried to put together to understand how we can work better together
