that train left this oakland amtrak station at 7:30 this morning. now it was just about an hour away from its bakersfield destination when that crash happened. a semi tractor-trailer rig plowing into the side of the tra train leaving that train in a piece of metal. it is equipped with warning lines and gates and the mechanical arms at that crossing were down and in good working order at the time of the crash. dozens of people were hurt but no serious injuries among the 169 passengers and four crew members on board. we spoke with a man who said he almost took that train and we talked with passengers who were on board describing it as quite the squacare. >> i thought a bomb went off. today's day in age, you just wonder. i got this force on the side of my head and my arm. and it knocked me sideways to my left and covered in dirt and insulation and you couldn't see anything. >> i feel blessed. i feel like god had a hand in it absolutely. it wouldn't do me good to be stranded any way. this is a better place to be. >> we checked the history of amtrak wher

we'll talk about that, amtrak and subway issues. travel, no matter how you're thinking about it, roads, trains, amtrak are susceptible to trees down, power lines down, flooding and road closures like that. even the new york city subway stations are a little concerned because as we just told you, if you're looking at about three feet of water before it tops the area here, all that water runs where, into subways, and that's their biggest concern, that they may have to close down buses, may have to close down subways. there's a lot of weather problems and a lot of effects from the weather that will be involved in this storm. it's not just the storm surge. it's winds. it's flooding rains and then it's the kick-back more rain running off from wherever that heavy rain is going. so there's a lot -- even that little bit of snow that we think will hit in higher elevations as well. the track of the storm so you're prepared for where it's going. right on track hurricane center hasn't changed much at all in the last couple of updates knowing th

amtrak, the main piece of information tonight, amtrak canceling all northeast corridor services tomorrow. in fact, amtrak says most service along the eastern seaboard will be shut down tomorrow. staying on the rails, marc service canceled tomorrow, vre service canceled tomorrow. as for metro, this just in, the transit agency says it will be making changes to service tomorrow. we don't know the exact changes, but it could mean something like a weekend schedule goes into effect tomorrow. on the roads at the bay bridge, a lot of people already trying to get off the eastern shore. that means backups approaching the bay bridge and, remember, when wind gusts are sustained around 55 miles an hour, the maryland transportation authority will typically shut down all lanes on the bay bridge. a lot of inner city bus companies shutting down service tomorrow. at the airports, here is a live look at reagan national. as you can imagine, a number of flight cancellations already in place, not just at reagan but also at dulles and dwi marshall. check ahead before heading out. at a certain point if you have
