we still have amtrak service from norman to fort worth. we have about 35 trains a day come through. debbie: what is the population here in norman? andy: norman has about 120,000. we have some 20,000 students. it is really a commuter city, 60%-70% of our community leaves town every morning to go to oklahoma city. once the interstate was completed, it made commuting to the city much easier. therefore good schools, the university had a good lifestyle. this is the old downtown. tracks,ocks of railroad a 9-5 crowd and a 5-9 crowd, with restaurants and entertainment, some stores during the day. it has turned around the last few years, with lots more traffic, more of a variety of retail services. debbie: we just passed some of the murals. they depict some history. andy: that depicts the land ride, in april of 1889. the government opened up the land on april 22nd, 1889, and people came and state their claim for parts of the land. you could stake up to 160 acres. the university came in 1890. where we are headed now is the east side of town. what you see straight ahead, some of the remnants o
