more than a dozen people are hurt tonight after an amtrak train derailed in ventura county. the train was on its way from seattle and the bay area to los angeles when it struck a water truck on the tracks. reporter phil shuman was at the scene just a short time ago. it's incredible that no one was killed and only one person seriously hurt in this call that came in to 911 at about 1119 this morning, sky fox from southern california was overhead . take a look at the aftermath of that derailment. ten cars traveling north from los angeles all the way to seattle. the costar later amtrak number 14, apparently hit a ventura county water tender that was on the tracks for reasons we don't know. and that caused the derailment. now the driver walked away, though we're told he was taken to a trauma center with serious injuries for 18 of the 186 passengers and crew were also hospitalized. but we're told their injuries, fortunately, were minor. they were bust out of here to make alternative transportation arrangements arranged. before they left, we spoke to a couple of shaken passengers.
