let's bring in amy bock. now she's the executive director of united policyholders. that's the san francisco based nonprofit that advocates for consumers. amy, nice to have you back on the program. so is this a one off like that family we just talked to, or is this a sign of the times? for a lot of people, it's a sign of the times. this crisis has been hitting people in the foothills areas and the, in the tahoe, all the areas where there have been wildfires. but it's starting to hit people in the suburban areas, hard. yeah, we're hearing, we're hearing we're hearing so much of this. are we seeing insurance premiums shoot up like this? why exactly is it just about fire risk? why are we seeing this, you know, i hate to say this, but a lot of it is due to the technology that is now available to insurers. the aerial images, the ai models , all of it is scaring them out of insuring what they've always been insuring. and that's part of the problem. so they're seeing more data that's concerning them and therefore they're reacting by raising our rates. is that right? that's e
