[applause] how many of you listen to or watch "democracy now?" that's fantastic. we have flyers that show all the stations, tv and radio, where we broadcast in this area. we broadcast on 1500 public television and radio stations, and you can check it out at democracynow.org. so, the idea originally, when we began 44 years ago on just nine community radio stations and on pacifica radio, was to go to where the silence was, to break down stereotypes and caricatures. when we began, we were on pacifica radio. the fourth of the five pacifica stations went on the air in houston, texas in 1970. within a few weeks, it was blown off the air by the ku klux klan. they strapped dynamite to the base of the transmitter. when the station rebuilt a few weeks later, they strapped 15 times the dynamite to the base of the transmitter and blew it up again. it took months to g
