we begin with amy hollyfield in san francisco. >> reporter: abc is asking today be a day of giving.they want to you know your money goes toward supplies that the red cross can hand out such as toiletry kits, basic items, toothbrush and toothpaste, the red cross hits the ground there and hands these out immediately. they also hand out meals they supply 128,000 saturday. they give out water and they help provide shelter. 100 volunteers from the bay area have traveled to the east coast to help. we've also sent five vehicles from the bay area. they need money that's why abc has decided to dedicate this day as a day of giving. they are encouraging to you think about what you can give, every little bit helps. if you give $50 that supplies three meal force one person and shelter and toiletries for one day. -- if you can give $150 that takes care of a family of four for one day. abc the company is going to be giving money to the red cross and is encouraging you as individuals to think about if you can give as well they are hoping you will do it today. collectively today we will all pull tog

that last location is where we find amy hollyfield live. >> reporter: fire investigator are still oncene of this pet clinic. they are very determined to catch who is doing this they find it upsetting that someone has such little regard for property and firefighters' lives. this was the second fire of the night, the village bar started burning before 3:00 a.m.. firefighters were already suspicious, then couldn't believe it when the call of a third fire came in. all three looked suspicious, all within 12 hours of each other. >> someone is lighting fires, we are doing our bet to find out who it is. we are working with the police department with our investigative team and we are doing the best we can to find the suspect. >> reporter: the first fire was at a vacant home on alabama street 8:30 last night. then the bar after closing around 3:00. 7:25, a third fire at a pet clinic this is part of a disturbing trend going on for a while. >> over the last six to eight months we've had fires with the similar modus operandi. sporadic in terms of time of day or night, sporadic in terms of the day

. >> amy hollyfield joins us with more on the developing story. >> reporter: i just spoke with the police chief he says his officers can't believe the artillery they found in the home. there were automatic weapons in there, one had a clip that would hold 100 rounds it was loaded. what they had far out-powers what the police have. they got the call 4:30 this morning to go to the neighborhood. police found four people inside the home. they also found marijuana, guns and a lot of ammunition. they arrested four people and say two are confirmed members of the taliban gang here menlo park. there's a shooting in that neighborhood a week ago which also involved the taliban gang. police say they a gang problem in the bell haven neighborhood. >> we put extra bike patrols out, we are going to be putting extra foot patrols in the area. we have to see what happens next. we are taking it very serious. >> reporter: police held a town hall meeting about this issue. they had a good turnout, people are very concerned. police get the impression that many are terrified when those four people were shot a week

amy hollyfield is there live. >> reporter: it looks so much better out here. it is amazing. they still have work to do. this time yesterday we were standing in mud, quite an improvement this morning. they spent all day yesterday working on cleaning up this neighborhood. they were shoveling mud and hauling it out and taking it to a recycle place in brisbane. four blocks of this neighborhood were coated in mud after a pipe broke at 4:25 in the morning that released 45,000 gallons of water. it was rushing into this neighborhood it brought the hillside down with it and a lot of mud. now they are worried about the rain in the forecast later this week. today they will be working onshoring up this hillside park. >> the next three days we are going to be winterizing the park which means putting bales of hay out to absorb moisture, mud and debris, sandbags and everything that we can to secure the park. >> reporter: the good news is mud stayed out of people's homes. they did evacuate some homes just in case, they were worry the hillside might give questioned. engineers determined it w

amy hollyfield is live at the port. this is going on at oakland airport. >> reporter: that's right this is scheduled to start at 6:00, the second phase of the strike. the first phase started last night. they've picketed at oakland international airport. this is the union that represents maintenance and janitorial workers who work at the port offices. the port authority is asking the union to contribute 5% to their own retirement fund. the union says the strike has been called because of unfair labor practices. they are claiming port was withholding financial information required for bargaining purposes. >> all of our financials are fully available online. we've been fully transparent and working with them and answered all questions. >> they have this arrogant attitude that they think they can get away with anything. they've withheld this information we've requested, requested, we go on strike now they will send it to us. >> reporter: the union says the package of documents, has been delivered. seiu is hoping other union

that last location is where we find amy hollyfield live. >> reporter: fire investigator are still oncene of this pet clinic. they are very determined to catch who is doing this they find it upsetting that someone has such little regard for property and firefighters' lives. this was the second fire of the night, the village bar started burning before 3:00 a.m.. firefighters were already suspicious, then couldn't believe it when the call of a third fire came in. all three looked suspicious, all within 12 hours of each other. >> someone is lighting fires, we are doing our bet to find out who it is. we are working with the police department with our investigative team and we are doing the best we can to find the suspect. >> reporter: the first fire was at a vacant home on alabama street 8:30 last night. then the bar after closing around 3:00. 7:25, a third fire at a pet clinic this is part of a disturbing trend going on for a while. >> over the last six to eight months we've had fires with the similar modus operandi. sporadic in terms of time of day or night, sporadic in terms of the day

. >> amy hollyfield joins us with more on the developing story. >> reporter: i just spoke with the police chief he says his officers can't believe the artillery they found in the home. there were automatic weapons in there, one had a clip that would hold 100 rounds it was loaded. what they had far out-powers what the police have. they got the call 4:30 this morning to go to the neighborhood. police found four people inside the home. they also found marijuana, guns and a lot of ammunition. they arrested four people and say two are confirmed members of the taliban gang here menlo park. there's a shooting in that neighborhood a week ago which also involved the taliban gang. police say they a gang problem in the bell haven neighborhood. >> we put extra bike patrols out, we are going to be putting extra foot patrols in the area. we have to see what happens next. we are taking it very serious. >> reporter: police held a town hall meeting about this issue. they had a good turnout, people are very concerned. police get the impression that many are terrified when those four people were shot a week

amy hollyfield is live with more on the day-long search. >> reporter: a long search, now he is here in jail. police say he's 24-year-old man and he has ties to a local gang. this started 3:00 yesterday afternoon. police spotted him but it wasn't until 8:00 until they got him. they recognized him, he's known in the area and he's known for being just released from prison and not showing up for a parole meeting. when he realized police were after him he took off, he ran into a police car in the process that was at montgomery in san francisco after 3:00. he got away. it wasn't until 8:30 last night police got a tip he was holed up in a home on appleton. >> tactical team and crisis negotiators responded, when the police department made contact with that suspect he surrendered without further incident. >> reporter: police have not released his name. they did tell us his prior sentence was for a firearms violation. he's 24 with ties to a local gang. the police car an that was hit was damaged but no police officers were hurt. again, he's now booked in jail. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. >>> drivi
