abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield has been on the scene all morning at 24th street and treat avenue. amy? >> reporter: the firefighters have figured out that most of the damage was to the front living area of the apartment. it is still under investigation but they say at this point nothing looks suspicious. but they are still trying to figure out what started this fire in but they are feeling very proud about the rescues. a family of five needed rescuing from the second floor apartment, which was on fire at 4:30 this morning. firefighters pulled all five to safety. a mother, father and three kids. they got them out through different exits including a window. the father and two of the kids were unconscious. >> hearing people screaming yelling, an emotional scene. so, yeah, there is a dark, heavy smoke conditions, active flame and make rescues the way they did out of three different means of egress, they did a phenomenal job. >> reporter: the youngest victim, a 6-year-old boy was one of the unconscious victims. >> youngest one actually regained consciousness. so we were really happy abo

abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at the store in the nob hill neighborhood. amy? >> reporter: the owner tell me that the thieves took very expensive equipment. three people broke in here. they worked as a team, and they went through that store. the entire store very quickly before police could even get here. they shattered the window and stormed in at 4:00 a.m. grabbing speakers and amplifiers, even as the alarm was signaling for help. a witness said it looked like they knew what they were doing. >> i woke up to a crashing, breaking glass noise. ran to my window, saw three men in long overcoats. they had like ski masks. you couldn't see their face. little winter hats on. >> reporter: the owner of music lovers at busch & steiner says this is the second time his store has been hit this month. each one happening at 4:00 in the morning. he's not alone. this is one of at least half a dozen electronics stores in the city and on the peninsula that have been victims of smash and grabs within the last month. >> obviously we're going to try to look at the connection, if the

monitoring a health scare. >> officials are warning about possible exposure to hepatitis a. >> amy hollyfieldve cases in five weeks here in napa. we're at the westin verasa hotel in napa. two confirmed cases exist. the two cases involve employees of the restaurant. la toque restaurant and bank cafe and bar located inside the hotel. there's no known cases among customers. just the two employees. if you visited here in february from the 9th to the 26th, you may have been exposed to hepatitis a. the hotel says it's taking all measures to ensure the safety of its guests. and it's working closely with the health department. here's a look at the symptoms of hepatitis a. they include fatigue, nausea, fever, point pain. jaundice. hepatitis a is typically transmitted through person-to-person contact. the three other cases in napa have nothing to do with the hotel or any other public sets. at this point health officials say they haven't figured out the source of the infection. reporting live in napa, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. >>> general motors is making cuts that will impact customers.

amy hollyfield is at the scene with more at 5:30. >> the hunt is over for three murder suspects accused killing an elderly woman. our reporter is in the newsroom with more on how the suspects were caught. >> two suspects are in custody and a third suspect was killed during the deadly police chase over the weekend. 27-year-old victor silva is awaiting extradition to the bay area. he was arrested on saturday in arizona. he and a second suspect were spotted driving in southern california and they led sheriff deputies on a high speed chase cross the border into arizona and were firing out the window. the car crashed and silva surrendered but the other suspect would not and was shot. 84-year-old woman was found dead in a chair at her home on thursday. she lived there for decades. the motive for the killing is still not then. there is a third suspect, 27-year-old john martinez not in the car with the others and was arrested on saturday in richmond and will be arraigned tomorrow. >>> thank you. in hayward, a 12 hour stand off came to a dramatic end with the arrest of a man suspected of shootin

our reporter, amy hollyfield, is in fairfield with more on the story. amy?oney and helping agencies like this agency, the international bird rescue. this is in fairfield. this is in response to the birds that were found back in january in the bay covered in a mystery goo. officials figured out that the state has a system in place to respond and pay for an oil spill but there is not money available to pay for a spill of any other substance that place add huge burden on the nonprofit agencies trying to rescue the birds. more than 300 birds are estimated it have died in january when the unidentified goo was spilled into the bill. lawmakers were surprised to marry there was -- to hear there was no immediate response and nonprofits did the work and paid for it. they saved and released 154 birds but it cost the center here in fairfield about $150,000 . to two senators one from san francisco and berkeley want to change that and they want the state to help and they will hold a press conference to announce a bill to help get
