amy hollyfield is in san leandro with more. amy? >> yes, we are told the man was shot and killed here in san leandro. prior to being shot he was involved in a string of crimes. the first call came in to oakland police as a carjack in their pursuit they lost him and later they found the car, and it was abandoned on 580 facing the wrong way but it was empty. they got another report of a carjacking attempt that was unsuccessful and they got a suspect description and he was found walking on northbound 238. that is when he ran away. while he was running, he started firing at the officers. because that part of the show part of the crime scene the northbound off-ramp to east 14th, now it will be closed. >> freeway closing is shut down by c.h.p. because we need to do an evidence search. the suspect filed the weapon while a pedestrian on the freeway and he hit a passing motorist. we have our deputies and c.h.p. officers searching the 238 to make sure that there is no other evidence. >> he hit the motors' car. driver is okay. all the officers
