amy hollyfield is live at the hayward courthouse, where the woman suspected of murdering lee is set to appear this morning. amy? >> reporter: investigators are hoping to at least figure out the gender of the person whose remains were found this weekend. i would help the prosecutor's case in court. there is no indication that remains do or do not belong to michelle le. nothing of course like jewelry. remains were found from volunteers on an organized search for le. the remains were found near niles canyon and the hope is they belong to le but police say it could belong to anybody. >> there are some homeless people that come around here. you've got, we've had many, many scenarios where we have found bodies not reported missing persons. >> esteban zest charged with le's murder. she is expected to enter a plea in court today. esteban earlier told abc7

>> reporter: tragically, police now say their investigation suggests that amy patterson is likely dead. that's according to leenty sheriff lieutenant ryan bell in florida, and the suspect in her death is her ex-husband who was currently her boyfriend. they had reunited. patterson did not show up for work in july at mariner middle school in fort myers. deputies say her ex-husband told school officials patterson had died in a car crash, but his story began falling apart. a missing persons report was issued august 25th. deputies are looking for 44-year-old daniel ray proctor. he was last seen at a friend's home in alabama. he is considered armed and dangerous. meanwhile, yesterday patterson's mother went in front of the cameras begging for her daughter's safe return. she told whn-tv whether she's alive or dead, i want my daughter. she needs to be back home with her family. danny is the only one who can tell us where she is. she accused proctor of habitually abusing amy over two decades. when asked how she felt hearing his name, she responded: fear, fear of a man who has no conscious. gregg: patti ann, thanks. jen
