investigators say that may be the reason why someone smashed the figure of jesus off the cross at an east bay church. this happened some time before the early morning mass wednesday at the church. it sits outside on the property and parishioners believe the bronze statue may have taken so it could be sold as scrap metal. >> a lot of people are scandalized at the idea of somebody doing something like this. we would love to have the figure back of course. >> the figure was at this church for nine years. other statues and figures on the property were not taken. >>> it's an uphill battle, a few hundred miles down the coastline. clean-up efforts continue near santa barbara as the company behind the crude oil spill says 20% has been recovered. a ruptured pipeline spilled the oil into the ocean. an estimated 12,000 gallons of it made it into the pacific. local areas are in a state of emergency. >>> our leaders need to grow a spine! >> people in santa barbara county spent the weekend protesting the oil spill. about 60 people marched near the spill site. the group dressed in beach attire and gas m
