i'm an s.r.o. tenant and a resident of district nine, supervisor ronan's district, near 16th and mission. i'm here today to apply for seat one on the city's s.r.o. taskforce. i'm proudly running as part of a queer s.r.o. housing slate with courtney brown. i moved to the commission 23 years ago. i came to live in an s.r.o. via homelessness. a few years ago, i suffered a traumatic brain injury in a fall, and as an eventual result of my injury and subsequent inability to function, i became unhoused. being newly permanently disabled and becoming -- and being homeless was a nightmare. a significant part of that nightmareishness was a struggle to try to access homelessness and housing services, and to understand anything coherent about the serviceservice's landscape. in the end, after being rejected, my case was picked up and i was placed in an s.r.o. last july. i first became interested in s.r.o. residents and quality of life issues last year during the campfire, when i lobbied my landlord to help the re

i live in an s.r.o. i am one of the younger people living in my s.r.o. there are a lot of elders in my building, and we deal with paying over half of our income towards rent for an old -- older building with a community kitchen and few units with private bathrooms where the elevator is hello unreliable. need to fix it, like yesterday. you need to build more deeply affordable housing in the city, and that includes senior housing , and we need to build it now, not only that we need to acquire and preserve it, we also need to make sure that seniors and people with disabilities aren't paying more than 30% of their income towards rent, and we need to put funding towards that, for identification purposes also, i occupy a tendency on the single room occupancy task force, and while we should do all we can for elder tenants in s.r.o.s, even i think this housing stock should not be the only option for those who need to move on. seniors have specialized social, health, and medical needs that create challenges, and we need to make sure that seniors actually have othe

i am an s.r.o. operator in mixed-use in san francisco and i want to say, i have a tenant because i have mixed use. i have permanent tenants that have been here a long time, but they have all gone through a prescreened background check, credit check on the deposits, which any other rental place in san francisco is definitely the safeguards they put in, not only for the property owners before the other tenants. i don't know if a lot of people you're trying to help her going to pass those things to get in the building. you're making it harder to get into my building than less. a seven day stay, if they wanted -- if they ended up liking me, they can stay longer than seven days, i don't kick anybody out of my hotel. department lee put someone and who will be a permanent resident , it is easy to get somebody in, but it is hard to get somebody out if it is somebody who is not mentally healthy or something like that and it affects other tenants, not only my business. these are safeguards for everybody. thos

these residents, please note are living in an s.r.o. with case management and form of supportive housing. many of them are formally homeless, number of them from recovery from mental health and rebuilding their lives. noise for them impacts them some ways more harshly than your average san francisco resident. here's a challenge. the question is when you have this resident need for quiet enjoyment of their home versus a business that wants to thrive. how do you deal with that? if you're on 11th street place of entertainment and new people are moving in, they know they're moving into an entertainment district. here, you have a place long established, heartland hotel managed by tenderloin housing, an emerging business wants to expand their hours. given that, i think you might put some weight unnetted of the residents for having right quiet enjoyment of their home. support the tenderloin housing proposal. i think it's a good compromise. i think it still allows the business to make a profit. you hope you will consider this proposal and needs

when we pulled that up on google maps, you can see the picture there, one building was an s.r.o., andone building was an auto repair shop. so we, with a strong level of confidence, knew exactly where to send the fire department, who located the individual and was able to give him medical assistance, which would not have been possible with the technology that carriers provide to us. the second example was a sailboat crashed into alcatraz island and couldn't tell us where on the island they were. rapid s.o.s. ro provided the information. there is a pin drop by the laundry building it was provided. we provided that to the fire department, who was able to respond and provide assistance in a timely manner. and so the first test area was tennessee for this technology. and they did a study on it. and their study showed that a usable location accuracy less than 50-meters, went from 45% up to about 97% of calls. and that, i think, mirrors our experience so far. the technology that is available through the carriers is -- has a problem with tall buildings and has a problem with challenging geogr

i gave up on the shelters, spent about a year homeless in san francisco, finally got into an s.r.o., which was wonderful, way better than being homeless, but s.r.o.s -- i want to echo we need the private bathrooms. we had a share back to shared bathroom. i was followed into the bathroom by the janitorial staff and he attempted to assault me there, too. i was living in a very trans phobic neighborhood and was stabbed. i was a centimetre -- i'm alive because the knife missed me by a centimetre, you missed my brainstem by centimetre. i finally -- it has been about -- it has been a ten year journey, and i just finally got my own private bathroom. i have been going through surgeries and all sorts of stuff , and it's dangerous for us to have our own private bathroom and dangerous to not have safe housing for us to live in, not just for our transitions, but also for our daily lives, because it is not a matter of if we are going to be assaulted, if we are going to be a harassed, but it is more, how many times does it happen to each of us? >> thank you. next speaker, please. >> i'm just repre
