we are in the middle of the yard here at the anacostia depot for wssc. take a look at the hundreds and hundreds of pieces of heavy equipment and replacement parts from meters to steal joints, even hydrants out here. all of these will go underground eventually. this one was underground. this is the water main that broke in hyattsville off of route one. this gives us an example of two different types of breaks. this is what is called a split break. you can see the crack all the way along the pipe. this is a very difficult procedure because essentially crews have to replace the entire chunk type. this is what is known as a circle break. this worker is demonstrating how to put a clamp on this break. it is an easier break, and does not take as long. nn are going to speak to ly riggins. what do folks need to know about water main breaks? >> people need to call us. we do not always know that there is a water main break on your street. if you see water running down your street, call us. typically 48 hours to repair, sometimes longer for more difficult ones. the

morning an 8-year-old boy is in a hospital following a shooting that hurt three people just outside anacostia park in the district. we brought you this breaking news last night. we watched paramedics load one of the victims on to an ambulance. the shooting happened in a parking lot of the may fair mansions apartment complex on hay street just off the an costa freeway in northeast. you can see where police found a gun, also. d.c. police telling us the boy was not the target of the shooting. he was taken to the hospital in serious condition. no word right now on the condition of the other victims. meanwhile, d.c. police very busy. they're looking for a person who stabbed and killed a man in columbia heights. now this happened yesterday afternoon on 14th street near monroe in northwest. 35-year-old kenneth young jr. died at the hospital. police are now offering a $25,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest and a conviction in this case. >>> we have a traffic alert to pass on this morning. right now there are no delays on i-95 in northern virginia. but that could change this aftern

america but was then, 18 years ago, a young attorney with the department of justice, he walked into anacostiaor high school, and he offered a young man a job on the spot. and with the help of his friends, jeffrey zients, thomas nides who is vice chairman with morgan stanley and others, urban alliance was born. our founders were bold in their leadership and so was that young, first young man who was offered a job when he confidently told andrew, hey, it's great that you're able to get me a job, but i have five other friends who also need jobs. so he showed some very early leadership promise. and so the founders set out to find jobs for all six of those young men. but perhaps even more or most important with that story is that the young men actually, i believe, took the biggest risk in trusting that those early urban alliance founders, that those adults would do what they said they would do and make those paid jobs a reality. i'm also happy to share that i believe one of the original six interns who got one of those very first jobs might be here with us today, andre williams. if he's not in the
