we are in the middle of the yard here at the anacostia depot for wssc. take a look at the hundreds and hundreds of pieces of heavy equipment and replacement parts from meters to steal joints, even hydrants out here. all of these will go underground eventually. this one was underground. this is the water main that broke in hyattsville off of route one. this gives us an example of two different types of breaks. this is what is called a split break. you can see the crack all the way along the pipe. this is a very difficult procedure because essentially crews have to replace the entire chunk type. this is what is known as a circle break. this worker is demonstrating how to put a clamp on this break. it is an easier break, and does not take as long. nn are going to speak to ly riggins. what do folks need to know about water main breaks? >> people need to call us. we do not always know that there is a water main break on your street. if you see water running down your street, call us. typically 48 hours to repair, sometimes longer for more difficult ones. the
