andrea. so, i think you can expect to see more of that moving forward, and it's also notable, andrea, that when he travels to some of these states, he is breaking with the governors. pennsylvania, for example, where you have a democratic governor who is not reopening parts of his state. that promised protests in pennsylvania. but president trump made it very clear he was siding with those protesters, that he wants more of the state to be reopening, even though those various areas don't necessarily fit into the guidelines that the president's own administration laid out. so, there is clearly a political and strategic element to all of this, andrea, even as president trump is visiting places that he feels have been critical to the response in fighting coronavirus. >> robert acosta, just within the past hour, the attorney general, william barr, who's been under fire for the decisions that were made in the michael flynn case, is basically throwing cold water on the president's attempts to allege that president obama or joe biden did something wrong regarding flynn or the russia investigation. this

what can be a tighter space than the floor of one of the national conventions? >> that's right, andreawe've all been at these conventions. you're packed in there. not just the arena floor but throughout the cities, thousands upon thousands ascend for four, five days. the democrats moved their convention from jug to auguly t and set with milwaukee. they seem perhaps virtually online and perhaps television. but the president wants something, perhaps scaled down but some sort of physical gathering. he made it clear over the weekend with these tweets. and indeed he's suggesting if north carolina is not ready, he will move it. right now north carolina has guidelines where they won't allow gatherings of more than ten people. that obviously won't work for a convention. we saw the governor of georgia, governor kemp, put out an open letter to the rnc we will happily take the convention if north carolina is not going to do it. the head of the rnc was on tv this morning applying pressure on north carolina to get a swift resolution to this. i do think that the president is dead set on having some

experts say that many more, millions more are needed until the entire country can reopen and can do so safely. andrea, it's worth noting that we are anticipating new guidelines from the cdc later today that will presumably provide more specific details about how some of these states should reopen, these public places like restaurants, like schools. we are anticipating they will be more restrictive guidelines, and that is why it's our understanding the administration rejected them initially. remember, the president has really wanted to put this in the hands of the states. it is also, i think, worth highlighting the fact that you heard that very strong language from president trump about china. this is an ongoing war of words. as he continues to point the finger at china, accusing them of not being transparent enough in the early days. there's bipartisan agreement about that but the question remains, what to do about it? will there be some type of retribution? will it impact the trade deal you heard president trump reference there. those are among the questions on the table as president trump heads off
