i'm andrea mitchell in washington. the last hour, you have been listening and watching donald trump in mar-a-lago at a wide w ranging statement news conference. the president-elect speaking tot the press as his legal team has been trying to block several pending developments in the cases against him. some successfully. they have filed last minute attempts to stop his scheduled felony sentencing. that is still pending. new york appeals court will hear that. trump's team has been trying to prevent the release of the special prosecutor of jack smith's report on the evidence that the prosecutor says justifies the classified documents and election interference prosecutions. both case haves been dismissed but the report was still legally mandated. well, the attorney general merrick garland was to make the final call. but today, we are hearing that judge cannon in florida based on her throwing that classified documents cases out claiming the special prosecutor is not legally constituted, did not have the right to investigate.

i'm andrea mitchell in washington. we begin with major breaking news out of the middle east, where we can now report that negotiators in qatar have reached a gaza ceasefire deal and it has been accepted by hamas. the agreement lays out a six week initial cease fire phase that would begin in a day or two. once the israelis go through a cabinet process. after that, there would be a 48 hour wait and then a gradual withdrawal of u.s. of israeli forces. but first, the most important thing is that after 48 hours from whether it's thursday night or friday, the hostages would begin to be released from gaza as early as this weekend. sunday. israeli forces then would be withdrawing from central gaza from populated areas. there'd be a return of displaced palestinians to north gaza. under the deal, 33 hostages would come out initially, including all women, including soldiers, civilians, children and men over 50. we understand in that group there would be some americans, some americans. we know that there are at least three survivi

let me bring in nbc chief foreign affairs correspondent andrea mitchell. andrea, already intense conversation about who gets the credit here. can you walk us through what the involvement was of the current administration and the incoming administration? well, of course, it was extensive involvement by the current administration. president biden going there only days after october 7th to for an american president to go into israel when they were in the midst of being fired upon and hostilities and just responding to the massacre and already anger in in jordan next door, because there was a withholding of food and medicine, and there was already the attacks going on as gaza was beginning to suffer the consequences. the civilians in gaza. but you had 19 trips by the cia director involving multiple countries just on this subject, trips to the region and elsewhere in the world where he was meeting with the negotiators. you had 13 missions by the secretary of state going to 7 or 8 countries. on each of those trips i was on many of them. you also had brett mcgurk
