as andrea nakano shows us, one car was in the wrong place at exactly the wrong time. >> reporter: around:30 tonight in san francisco, a falling tree smashed into this car sending four people to the hospital. this happened on laguna street and golden gate avenue as the car came to a stop. the fire department says all suffered minor injuries. it was just about a month ago when another storm caused this tree to come crashing down onto five cars in golden gate park, putting 11 people in danger. only two were injured. the rain was furiously falling as well in the east bay. sheets of it coming down in berkeley, drenching this parking lot. and on the roads, cars were splashing through flooded streets. in the north bay, cars came to a crawl as drivers battled the pounding rain on their windshields, and tightly grabbed their steering wheels to avoid drifting in the wind. and a muddy mess in the south bay on highway 9 as a mud slide blocked the road. on the coast, people were being warned to stay away from the crashing waves, but that didn't stop this person from trying to catch a wave near golden

our andrea nakano spoke with one woman with who says just weeks after her car was stolen a thief followed her all the way to her driveway in her replacement ride. oakland police say they have seen an increase in smash and grabs, specifically targeting parked cars with a driver still inside. one oakland woman we talked to says the thieves were quick and precise with how they carried out their crimes. aria has lived in the highland park neighborhood all her life. she's always felt safe until she became a victim of a car theft and smash and grab all within a month. she wanted to talk to us about how the robbery unfolded. she said the thieves spotted her on east 14th street and followed her home. >> they slammed their brakes and they also turned left with me and i thought it was a little strange, but i wasn't trying to think of the worst of everyone, you know. so i was like oh, maybe they just missed their turn. that's normal. >> reporter: but as she made another left, so did the black sedan following her. this is video of when she pulled up on her driveway. the black car slows down behind he

people who live near the intersection tell andrea nakano the street where it happened might be a bigt of the problem. >> this is the transit bus that was involved in the crash, it wasn't even directly involved, the collision happened a little bit up the road and one of the cars violently flew into the front of the bus. daniel saw the crash and aftermath that happened in the peak of commute hours just before 5:00. rosa was also at the scene, and helped us translate what he witnessed. >> that is the car right there. they just left him on the floor, and it looked like his leg was swollen. >> reporter: he saw at least one of the cars going roughly 100 miles per hour, according to the spokesperson from ac transit, the speeding car lost control. >> the chrysler 300, as i'm told, struck a second passenger car , a toyota that was attempting a left turn from south bound international on 2/54 avenue. >> reporter: according to an organization, international boulevard has seen 18 fatal traffic accidents over the last two years. and this is one of the deadliest intersections. >> the organization

live from the cbs studios in san francisco, i'm andrea nakano. >> i'm brian hackney. a third person has died after a car slammed into a bus stop in san francisco's west portal neighborhood. two victims were pronounced dead at the scene including a child. and today one of the three injured died at the hospital. a baby remains in critical condition. this happened at ulloa and lenox in front of a library. today residents laid out flowers and a stuffed animal on the bus stop bench where it happened. elma franco walks that street every day. >> obviously i have my child and other kids. i don't want to imagine what the family is feeling this moment. how heartbroken it is for the community. >> muni train service was diverted for a few hours yesterday. police are still investigating. they haven't yet said anything about what might have led up to that crash. >>> a warning from california cities to chevy camaro owners. police say car thieves are able to start camaros through key cloning devices. max darrow joins us from the newsroom to explain. >> san francisco pd in los angeles
