. >> and i'm andrea nakano. we hope you're staying cool out there today. >> bay area, as you know, continues in the grip of a heat wave this saturday afternoon. over in concord it was, at last check, 98 degrees. we're all sweltering in the sundays after we were hoping for a bigger break in high temps. see if that's finally on the way some day. let's check weather with meteorologist zoe mintz. hey, zoey. >> it feels like this is a never ending heat wave, and not just a heat wave but record breaking for much of the bay area. nothing that's going to help cool you down throughout this afternoon. let's look at our temperatures right now, because they are very warm out there. we're likely going to be saying we're breaking records because temperatures compared to yesterday significantly warmer, about ten degrees warmer in pacifica. 14 degrees warmer here in san francisco. 12 degrees in oakland. a couple degrees warmer for our inland areas in the upper 90s yesterday. triple digits today. you're definitely feeling hotter

andrea nakano was there. >> reporter: this is downtown first thursdays. san francisco, this is great weather. you see people walking around with tee shirts. this event has drawn people from all over the bay area looking to escape the heat. >> there was dancing, food, drinks, in downtown first thursdays. it is one of the few days out of the year in san francisco where people haven't had to bundle up in big jackets. >> this is amazing! san francisco and i'm not wearing a coat! >> reporter: novato resident sylvia mendell was excited to experience the slightly cooler temperatures. >> it was 97 when we left at about 4:00. by the time we got here, about 5:20, it was 71 degrees. there was no fog. it was beautiful. >> reporter: she lucked out by investing in air-conditioning with temperatures hovering around the century mark near her home this week. while it has been cooler in san francisco, those without ac are feeling the heat. >> it has been very hot. no ac in my living unit. that has been somewhat unbearable. >> reporter: one of the organizers say they averag

andrea nakano talked to family and friends tonight about their tremendous loss. >> reporter: there's a growing memorial outside the apartment where two young men, a 22-year-old and a teen, lost their lives in a fire. family and friends are trying to process the tragedy, but they are in complete disbelief. >> it's just hard to wrap my head around. i can't even wrap my head around it. >> reporter: mariah martinez is coming to the memorial to remember her friend, writing messages on the cards left by the candles and flowers. >> he was very much loved, and even though his outer body shell is no longer here, his spirit will live on forever. >> reporter: mykel died at the scene. his 15-year-old cousin and 11-year-old brother were taken to the hospital. omari didn't survive. >> we're very devastated. this is a huge loss. >> reporter: amy jackson is a cousin of the boys. she says most of the family spends hours at the hospital every day. malik is in critical condition with burns to 95% of his body. >> he's fighting. he's putting up a good fight, and we're just trying to stay strong and conti

andrea nakano tells us, it does not make any easier to deal with. >> reporter: bringing back fish, theyilled up containers with ice for another run, they will not come back with crab any time soon. >> people say delay. there is nobody that ever thought we were going on november 15th. including the state. the state can not come out and say that by law but they know we are not going on november 15th. >> reporter: the reason is to prevent humpback whales from getting tangled on the vertical lines that are attached the shorter seasons have had a huge impact on bay area fisherman. they still have to compete with their counterparts along the pacific coast that have been given the all clear to fish for crabs. >> because we are forced to compete for the world's market share we are competing with others that are not restricted. >> how do you survive? >> a lot of people won't. a lot of people won't. >> reporter: in search of keeping his business afloat. he had to come up with a new technique to fish for crab. >> we are the original pop up boat. we started that whole thing two years ago. >> report

andrea nakano spoke to some of the coliseum's hard working crew at yesterday's emotional farewell party. >> reporter: stop and greet the employees for the final employees at the oakland coliseum. many employees know this was probably be the last time seeing each other at the stadium. >> people hugging, crying, you know, and walking around taking pictures and just saying wow, you know, it's amazing. >> reporter: nick worked security at the coliseum the last seven years. he walked in as a fan one day, asked how to get a job there and a month later was getting paid to come to the ballpark. he will always cherish the relationships he's built with his co-workers. >> great people, you know. i love it here just like everybody else and as you guys hear, people love it here. it's kind of devastating for us. >> reporter: one of his favorite co-workers is his boss, larry williams. he's not so sure this is the last hoorah for all the a's employees. >> we'll see them again. trust us. we'll see them again. >> reporter: williams doubts the a's plan to play in sacramento until their new permanent stadi

as andrea nakano reports, mia's life may never be the same. >> reporter: speck stators were watchingtests drop out of the sky on to the landing zone. one of them strayed off course and hit a 17-year-old girl. today the family released the video she was taking at the time this all happened. >>> you can see the parachutist try to signal something was happening. he landed on top of the 17-year-old. >> are you okay? >> at this point she can not watch the video, can not look at the news articles. but she does not blame the navy. she knows that this was not intentional and that nobody was targeting her. >> reporter: this video taken was released today by the family's attorney. in a statement mia says she immigrated to the u.s. just two days before the air show and was excited to explore the city. now this incident left her with serious injuries. her pelvis was fractured and needed screwed to hold it together. she also faced criticism from some on social media who said she should of tried to move out of the way. >> it was really sad to me, seeing this 17-year-old girl essentially being blam

but as andrea nakano explains, it wasn't the person police were looking for. >> reporter: this mystery started unravelling about two months ago when a family member called police asking them to come by the house to check in on 95-year-old nadine parker. as it turns out, parker had already been moved to a senior home two years ago, but then officers made a gruesome discovery inside the home. the house is tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac on the east side of union city. it would be easy to miss if it wasn't for the trash. >> the back sxrard the front yard was just filled with trash, and it was piled up to ten feet high or so with trash. and we always wondered about it because the place seemed really creepy. >> reporter: but neighbors were shocked to hear that a mummified body of a man was found on the toilet inside the home. sergeant brandon heyward with the union city police department believes the remains were there for weeks, if not months. he added it isn't uncommon for police to find people dead in the bathroom. the body wasn't wrapped in cloth but the remains had started to dry up

andrea nakano reports on that. >> reporter: some of the task force members from the bay area have been there for weeks helping those in the southeast get through hurricane helene. more left earlier today, and they are ready to be deployed to help those impacted the most by milton. the mission is clear for california task force three. >> but the team has one objective and, of course, the priority at the beginning is life safety. so we're out there to do search and rescue and to save lives. that is the priority. >> reporter: chief jonathan johnston with the fire park protection district says 80 team members from various agencies from san francisco to san jose make up task force three. once a month they train together to prepare for disasters like hurricane milton. they will be joined by task force four from the east bay. >> they're currently headed to atlanta where they will rendezvous with task force three out of menlo park to augment additional resources because of the size of the storm. >> reporter: 13 members from the east bay left wednesday. when they arrive, they'll take orders fro
