joining us now, the ceo and founder of avelo airlines, andrew levy. hi, andrew, how are you? >> i'm doing great, how are you? >> good, okay, a new budget airline, who operates avelo and what's the big idea? >> well, i started avelo, and it's mean a team of other very experienced executives that have put this together. the idea really is to customers first base in and out of burbank, 11 markets in the burbank, including santa rosa, california, close to you. we are serving markets that are unserved today for burbank and we are offering everyday low fares today. actually announce we are starting with $19 fares one way, that the promotional fare, but even after that ends, we will still have everyday low fares. and we also offer the convenience of the nines, small airport like bourbon, which we think will resonate a lot with customers that prefer to use smaller airports. >> santa rosa lullabies as one of those smaller airports, in an outcome easy parking is the idea. >> absolutely, absolutely. right now if you are to go on and but, can you fly from santa rosa to burbank? >> absolu

the ceo is andrew levy, and he joins us now. hold on a sec, andrew. bit nervous, stuart, but, you know, i really believe that people just travel as a rite of passage. it's just a way of life. didn't know how the pandemic was going to play out. we had to put things on pause for a little bit. i'm not surprised that we are where we are now, a little surprised about, obviously, the progress in vaccines, and that's just great newsment of but i'm not surprised that people are pent up, wanting to get out there, wanting to travel, reconnect with family and friends and do the things they love to do which includes travel. stuart: when i take those short haul routes, i usually have to pay a very high price for a short haul flight. what's your pricing structure? >> well, stuart, our pricing structure is going to be very low because our business is about being a low cost carrier, a low fare operator. our business works by driving down the price and getting more people to travel. the reason we're targeting short haul markets, quite honestly, is because the pricing

terms of people flying here in the united states dom dom, avelo is the newest based in burbank andrew levy allegiant. a lot of people are saying what are they doing rockford, illinois to orlando. this is never going to work. it worked. it worked well he thinks they can duplicate that with avelo. >> phil, we have to figure out when they fly to north bend, oregon so we can take our golf trip. >> they are going into bend. >> further away there. they have to get to the coast. phil, the airline industry over the last four to five decades has been one with scale as the key component to success a lot of consolidation mid level carriers have been bought up over the years how important is it to get a scale or is it tough to compete with southwest and delta >> it is tough to compete with the big boys with you are trying to fly in the hubs they are flying into grand junction, colorado they believe there are enough people who are tired of having to drive to denver international or take a regional flight. they prefer to fly out of grand junction there are pockets around the country of the under market

want to go to andrew levy, he runs an airline, and they have a novel concept where they seek out the andoned. andrew, very good to have you. can you explain what your airline is about? i probably oversimplified it, but what is your strategy? >> yeah. thanks for having me, neil. no, i think you said it pretty well. we're starting out next wednesday, actually, is our first flight and our first base is going to be in burbank, california, which is l.a. county and is a terrific example of an airport that we're going to be focused on as we expand our business. burbank is convenient, close to a lot of people, it's in the shadow of lax which is far larger of an airport, but we're just trying, we're trying to build an airline that's about offering choice to consumers serving underused or less used airports in metro areas. burbank is about -- year and a half ago wouldn't have met that definition because burbank is pretty crowded usually, but that's an opportunity that arose with the pandemic, and we're taking advantage of that. neil: are you primarily then focusing on the western part of the un
