andrew jackson. and joining us on the c-span bus to talk about some of the issues facing his state is mississippi's long-serving attorney general, jim hood. general hood, as a democrat, what's the secret to getting elected statewide in very red mississippi? >> i was elected in 2003 and i was grandfathered in. but law enforcement, fighting cyber crime, protecting children, those issues are sort of nonpartisan in our state. mississippi may be seen as a red state but there are a large amount of independents in states. >> one thing you have been working on is prescription costs. which you recently won. describe that for us. >> it was one of those cases where there was average whole sale pricing and one particular company, watson pharmaceuticals, the company was really a bad operator. we had to try the case. it went on for about ten years. and very conservative judge issued a $20 million punitive damage verdict against them. we recovered $33 million. our state supreme court, very conservative court, upheld that verdict. that tells you some of the operators, they had zwroeoverch of 1,000% to our medicaid program. the
