andrew mccabe let me bring you in here.do you think how important do you think it is that this report see the light of day, the january 6th piece? and do you think the fact that we're still not going to see she is blocking the section of the report related to the classified documents? case matters. >> i think i think yes, to both. in a way, casey, i think it's important. any time we have a special counsel who's been employed to look into a significant matter of national interest, that person is required to submit a report to the attorney general. and attorney generals have almost always turned those reports over to the public. i think following that tradition, this is certainly a both cases are matters of extreme public interest. and i think the report about the d.c. case should be turned over without any sort of delay, which would be immediately after midnight tonight. i think that's what we can expect. i understand the trump team is is saying that there's not much new here. and it is true that we've seen probably a lot. y

andrew mccabe, let me start with you. what are the next steps right now for the fbi and your former deputy director of the fbi, as they try to determine who the individuals placing these improvised explosive devices in the area are? >> absolutely, wolf. >> that is priority one for the fbi right now to identify and locate those individuals who they have captured in the surveillance video, placing the ied devices, which, which two, at least two of which have been rendered safe and therefore are probably providing the bureau with some evidence that they can use to compare to the device and the other evidence that's been recovered from the truck. and so they may have a solid forensic connection between the ieds, which would only confirm their suspicion that those three men and one woman are related to or working in concert with the driver of the truck. so that's the biggest potential threat. the bureau is probably focused on right now. and they are doing all the things that we have seen in these sorts of situations in the pas

and with us now we have cnn senior law enforcement analyst and former fbi deputy director andrew mccabe. andrew, you're hearing the reporting there. we're waiting for more information. we expect that we'll learn more at this briefing that is coming up here in the next hour. what are you expecting to find out? >> well, i mean, i think it's possible we'll learn the identity of this, of this attacker. um, and and, you know, honestly, brianna, there's so many things, so many questions that we have for the law enforcement community at this point. but i think, um, evan is absolutely right. they are really racing now to be able to do to take as many steps as they can before that identity of the subject gets out, because that gives them it gives law enforcement a little bit more freedom to move, to do some things covertly, to show up at people's houses who they want to talk to without those folks expecting them to be there, things like that that can give them just a little bit of an edge in an interview or an interaction that might lead to important information. um, it's highly likely that this
