i'm becky quick along with joe kernen and andrew ross sorkin. the market focus turns to job creation today. the labor department will release the may employment report. that's coming up at 8:30 a.m. eastern today. in the meantime, let's take a look at some of the systems. economists are expecting nonfarm payroll to rise by 200,000. that comes after april's surprising 288,000 jump. the adp report had a less than 200,000 number. that raises some concerns about today's report. as for the unemployment rate, that is expected to tick up slightly to 6.4%. average hourly wages are expected to rise by 0.2%. you'll see right now, the futures are indicated higher right now. the dow futures up by 25 points, s&p 500 futures up by 1.5 points, the nasdaq up by just over 4. the ten-year note and the bond market is yielding 2.566%. we have been pushing against that ceiling this week. currencies, yesterday it was the ecb decision that got things moving. the euro is slightly higher at 1.362. that's because the euro was so much weaker ahead of the news yesterday. l

andrew ross-sorkin is off today. this is a big day for us this time around. today we'll get chicago pmi and pending home sales and the dallas fed survey. tomorrow manufacturing pmi, ism manufacturing, construction spending and june auto sales. then on wednesday the adp report and factory orders. and janet yellen will speak at the imf conference. and on thursday, the big june employment report. we will get the numbers on thursday because on friday the market is closed due to the fourth of july. and international trade services, pmi, international trade and ism nonmanufacturing numbers that day as well. forecasters say the economy probably added 218,000 jobs in june to make five straight months of job gains of more than 200,000. that's something we have not seen since the end of 1999 before the dot com bubble burst. >>> the bulls are looking to close the books on a successful first half of the year. the s&p 500 is up more than 6% this year following a jump of 30% in 2013. if the market closed the year at current levels

i'm becky quick along with joe kernen and andrew ross sorkin. let's start this morning with the markets. stocks getting a boost from dovish comments from the fed yesterday. the central bank suggesting that interest rates would stay slow for just about forever each as the economy recovers. >> inflation continues to run well below our objective and we're still some ways away from maximum employment. and for the moment, i don't see any tradeoff whatsoever in achieving our two objectives that those call for the same policy, maybely a highly reaccommodative monetary policy. >> so, in other words, don't look for higher rates until well into 2015. you can see this morning that the markets are barely budged overnight. we'll see what happens as we get closer into the opening bell. right now, take a look at the ten-year note. at this point, the ten-year is yielding 2.577%. still below 2.6% based on some of those dovish comments, again. on today's market agenda, we have weekly jobless claims. first time filings are expected to climb by 3,000. in addition t

i'm becky quick along with joe kernen and andrew ross sorkin. the dow is coming off its biggest drop in more than a month. the economy is going to be front and center for investors today. on the agenda, we have may durable goods and a final revision to the first quarter gdp. polled economists say they expect to see a 2% decline in first quarter growth. not a huge surprise. we knew things were weak, but that would be weaker than the 1% drop in the last revision. worth watching today, treasury is going to be auctioning $35 billion in five-year notes. this comes after yesterday's stellar sale of $32 billion in treasuries. the u.s. equity futures this morning after that triple digit decline for the dow yesterday are looking a little higher, but not a lot. dow futures would open close to 12 points. s&p up by just over

i'm becky quick along with joe kernen and andrew ross sorkin.und to start the week, but the bulls are quietly in control. so far this year, the dow is up 2%. the s&p has add more than 6%. and the nasdaq is higher by 5%. this morning, if you check out the futures, you'll see at this hour things are indicated lower. the dow futures indicated down by 50 points. and the ten-year at this point looks like it is yielding. 2.595%. it's still sitting just below 2.6%. we're continue to go watch gold prices. the commodity now higher four straight sessions closing yesterday at its highest level since mid april. among the tests for the markets today, we have some economic numbers coming out.
