you might recognize espn's reporter erin andrews.he was also on "dancing with the stars" and has a personal story about stalking to share. tracie potts joins us live from washington, d.c. with the new law that andrews is trying to push in order to stop stalkers. >> reporter: good morning. she's hoping to help the lawmakers here on capitol hill update these laws so they apply to the types of stalking that we're seeing around the country today. california was on the cutting edge of this. it had the nation's first anti-stalking law 20 years ago for years before the federal government came up with one. that was before most of us used in the internet. then only 1 in 7 used the internet. today, three-quarters of us do. many laws need to be updated and specified that cyber stalking is against the law. that's what this bill would require. taking a look at some of the requirements, it would specifically make cyber stalking a federal crime. the types of things we see going on now, particularly on social networks. it would up the penalties per

andrews: it must, mr. speaker, be a luxury to have the ability to think about the great sweep of economic history since the 1930's. and i enjoyed very much the remarks of my friend from california, but we're here to talk today about 2.5 million americans who don't have that luxury. these are people who have been out of work for a very long time. and as the first of the month rolls around very soon and there's no rent payment or no mortgage payment in their checking account, they find it difficult or impossible to pay their utility bills, their health care bills, and they're slipping away. these are the americans we are here to talk about this afternoon. 2.5 million americans. the extension of unemployment benefits should have been done a very long time ago. there should not have been this wait to extend the benefits. some people said that we should delay the benefits because people aren't looking hard enough for a job who are on unemployment. i would challenge those who make that assertion to go walk in th
