kpix 5's andria borba has more. >>> reporter: when you look at the dam crossing alhambra creek you knowm busy as a beaver is more than just i will littation. but the work of bringing of mud and stux to fight the water is being done by a smaller family of beavers in martinez. in the past two months five died. >> i found the first one floating in the creek. and the next day, somebody local found a live one that was not in good shape. >> reporter: four baby beavers called kits seen here in happier times floating with mom are gone. >> we were hoping it wouldn't give in to the adults or the older kits so it's kind of scary. >> reporter: then a yearling was found dead. >> now that we have an older beaver that's a little more to consider. so we're a little more worried. >> reporter: fish and wildlife has taken the remains to perform necropsies on to figure out what's going on. >> that's no water coming down the creek that we know of. it's tidal so we are getting a lot of brackish water coming in. >> reporter: the beavers arrived near the amtrak station in 2006 to the eventual delight of many.
