we begin with andy parker. he is the father of alison parker, the journalist shot dead in august while on the air in roanoke, virginia. since her death, andy parker has vowed to do whatever it takes to end gun violence. he joins us from his home in collinsville, virginia. andy parker welcome to democracy , now! of course our condolences on the death of your daughter. can you talk -- >> thank you, amy. amy: can you talk about alison today? >> of course. i can talk about alison any day. what people saw on television was who she was. she was bubbly, bright, would light up a room. she made everyone feel comfortable. she was accomplished at just about -- well, not just about, everything she did, everything she picked up she was terrific at it. probably more of a live in 24 years than most people do in a lifetime. a force of nature, and she really was. i think she has become an iconic figure in this struggle that we're undertaking. juan: and that day that you heard the news of the shooting? amy: where were you, andy

reporting live in manchester, andy hershberger, wmur news 9. tom: a new hampshire cemetery hit hard by downpours. brooks that run on either side of the union cemetery in laconia spilled over their banks, leaving serious damage behind. as heather hamel explains, the cemetery' s caretakers have seen flooding before, but this is a first. >> the banks of the durkee brook have been steadily eroding over the years and the last rainstorm really took a bite out of the north end of the cemetery. another foot of land gone and the water is coming dangerously close to gravesites like this. and it looks like the brook is heading right towards this mausoleum. and it' s not the only area hit hard by mother nature. across the cemetery near meadow brook, a culvert collapsed leaving behind this gapping sinkhole. it' s 30 feet long and eight feet deep, and again, very close to gravesites. an engineer was preparing to take a kayak into the pipe and see if the damage extended even further. the plan is to make repairs quickly. they already got an emergency wetlands

andy gallagher reports. >> reporter: hurricane patricia formed in just 36 hours making landfall with winds 236 kilometers per hour. the authorities have little time to organize evacuations and get residents to safety. thousands flew out of the region whilst others rode ultimat out e storm. >> if there are fewer services, what they recommend ask that they stay here at the shelter. >> reporter: but the initial reports from the authorities are that the storm has caused no loss of life. >> i insist the most dangerous part of the hurricane has yet to enter the national territory. besides we expect large amounts of rain, i ask the people of mexico to be watchful over the next hours. >> as hurricane patricia moves on land it poses a more serious threat to the rural communities. the risk of heavy rain and mudslides could be a real threat. the storm remains very dangerous for those who remain in their path. >> i suppose everyone is waiting to see the amount of damage the storm has done andy gallagher. >> the mexican government has suspended the hurricane warning, some regions are no longer un

wmur' s andy hershberger is live. andy: this water main break is causing a variety of problems. first is the traffic castle. this is the intersection of town avenue and south beech street. you can see there is a big hole that have developed. they are trying to excavate it now. traffic has been stopped coming southbound, going northbound, eastbound on south beech. this area is virtually shut down. also on exit 293, exit 2 coming northbound side of 293. that rim has been closed so they can clean up some of the debris that washed down that direction. ' s second issue is that 700 -- several hundred people in this area are without water. a main burst this morning, and tens of thousands of gallons of water wash suede is intersection. the pavement buckled, the road was shut down, and crews began to try to fix the problem. phil: what we are trying to do right now is isolate the break. hopefully we will have it taken care of within a short period of time, hopefully an hour or so, and then we will dig it up and fix it area -- it. sue: i turned on the water to rinse her coffee cup, and no

reporting live in concord, andy hershberger, wmur news 9. adam: andy, thank you. meanwhile in manchester, police are searching for this robber. police say the 7-eleven store on webster street was held up overnight. the clerk says a man put several items on the counter and then demanded cash from the register. police say the suspect is a white man in his 50' s. soon after the holdup, this car was seen leaving the area by the gas pumps. at this time, police say it' s not clear if it was involved. new hampshire state police nab a woman wanted for more than a decade after doing a records check on a broken down car on the highway. today, she faced a judge here in manchester. wmur' s ray brewer has more on what she was wanted for and where she will be returning to two face the charges. ray: andrea erceg is wanted in his opening up. the original arrest warrant says surrounding states, however, new the district attorney' s office in mercer county, and they said they want her back. after 12 years on the run, andrea erceg agreed to go back charged with burglary retail theft
