andy mcguire released a statement on last night's historically close vote. in it, mcguire outlines that clinton has been awarded 7-hundred state delegate sanders has been awarded 695-state delegates. mcguire says.... "we still have outstanding results in one precinct, which is worth three state delegate equivalents. we'll report that final precinct when we've confirmed those results with the chair." of course....should sanders win the last precinct... it would still not be enough to edge out clinton.... but again... we're still waiting for those final votes to come in this morning. the race was so close last night... that democrats in some precincts had to flip coins to determine how to award an extra county delegate. it's a rare move... but a long-standing procedure. party rules call for a coin flip when support for candidates is even but a precinct has an odd number of delegates to award. clinton won coin tosses at precincts in davenport and des moines. meanwhile... iowa republican party officials say iowa voters showed up last night in record numbers. more
