cnn's andy scholes is here to tell us more. good morning. >> good morning, carol.rrell announced he has stage one lymphoma and would not be managing the team for the rest of the season. he's sit to begin his first round of key though therapy today at massachusetts general hospital and indians manager terry francona will be by his side. they have been friends since they played together on the indians back in 1988. they also coached together with the red sox. farrell was francona's pitching coach when the team won a tight until 2007. when francona found out ferrell would be starting his treatment this week, francona told ferrell he was going to go to the hospital with him. >> i don't know what to do. i don't know what to say. none of us do, but he's one of my very best friends, and if somehow maybe he ends up laughing or, i don't know, maybe i get in the way like i usually do, but i just felt like i wanted to be there. >> and, carol, ferrell is a pretty lucky guy. doctors discovered the cancer as he was undergoing surgery for a hernia. his cancer a highly curable. fr

cnn's andy scholes joins us with more on milwaukee brewers prospect david denson. good morning. david denson is a member of the brewers organization. he plays for a minor league team in helena, montana, and over the weekend he reached out to the milwaukee journal sentinel to announce he is, in fact, gay. in the past two years we have seen this in pretty much every major word. robbie rogers in major league soccer, jason collins in the nba, michael sam in the nfl and denson is the first active professional baseball player playing for a team affiliated with a major league club. now the way denson actually came out to his teammates is pretty unique. according to the sentinel, one of his teammates jokingly referred to him using a derogatory term for a gay male and denson responded with a smile saying, well, be careful what you say, you never know. denson then went on to make the announcement to everyone on the team, and denson said the outcome was amazing and that everyone was very supportive of him, and brewers superstar ryan braun recently talked about this. he applau
