today, attorney john burris stood with the family of angelo quinto and announced a $7.5 million settlement with the city of antioch. this is the end of a civil suit, but it's only really just the beginning of a lifetime of positive social change, so we are really grateful to have been able to honor angelo in this way. traditional justice has not been available to our family. what we've done instead is try to make some needed changes, to make the process fair for more transparent, more accountable, for other families, for other people. quinto died after being forcibly restrained by antioch police in 2020. police were called to the home on reports of a family argument, but quinto's relatives say it should have been clear he was suffering a mental health crisis. the suit claimed that while restraining him, police put their knee on his neck and he stopped breathing. he died days later, the family notes, since his death, they've pushed for major reforms in how police respond to similar calls. today, their attorney noted many of those reforms are now reality. they have made considerable efforts
