angelo has a new book called "the conversation." thank you very much for being here with us. this is a tough conversation for any family heb to have. it's about life ending, how you literally want to go out. you say the end of life care is broken at every level in america. what do you mean by that? >> unfortunately today, a lot of providers aren't having this conversation. i think it's a fundamental part of what we want our patients to be talking about when they have a serious illness. we should have these conversations not when you're seriously ill but years before you end up in the hospital. >> these are conversations that before we even involve the medical professional, that families should be having in their own homes among their loved one when they're well. >> absolutely. i tell this to people all the time. when you're with family, when you're with friends over thanksgiving, have a conversation about these issues. ask them questions like, what is important to you today? what gives you happiness? what are your fears or hopes for medical care if you had a critical illness
