angie lassman is here tracking it all for us. good morning, angie. >> we've got rain, snow, all of that is going to impact folks across the plains today we've been dealing with snow across the rockies. that's going to slowly taper off today. but notice the rain, snow, the wintry mix still there we're also going to have to watch for the flooding potential across florida today and even into the weekend you can see those flood watches are up and down the southeastern kohl's of the state from homestead, stretching up into portion of west palm beach we've got a lot of rain on the way. this is now through sunday we could see upwards of four, five inches, even isolated spots picking up seven inches of rain with a couple different things happening. we first got the stationary front leaving it unsettled any additional rain on an already-rainy year for folks in that region could lead to the potential for flooding then we have this system that's going to gain strength and give a big push of moisture that eventually works its way t. low 40s

let's bring in angie lassman for more on the latest storm headed west >> we have another storm on tap, no surprise there. this has been one after another for folks in the pacific northwest. really haven't been able to get a break over the past couple days and we've got more rain on the way. this system not quite as robust as what the last one was it h it will be a little weaker, a little cooler. rainfall on already-saturated grounds is not somethingthat will surprise you if we see flooding across that region today. we'll see snow spreading into the northern plains, lingering over parts of the rockies. we will have the potential for strong storms to fire up in portions of the plains rainfall totals end up about a quarter to a half an inch. we could see a foot of snow in the higher elevations. maybe even a foot and a half but we'll track afternoon showers and the severe risk by the time w down towards texas with the mid-70s on tap for lubbock tucson hits 77 degrees, full sunshine today and that's a look at your forecast, guys, back to you. >> angie, thank you. >>> "early today" is back

let's go to meteorologist angie lassman for thefore kwas. angie, good morning, my friend.got a couple of things that could be troublesome if you're planning on starting your travel for holiday schedules. we've got the heavy rain tracking for parts of the west coast, warm conditions and chilly conditions to start out just like yesterday morning we're waking up on the cool side of things across the southeast. but this is the area we're going to have to watch for over the next couple of days with heavy rain expected over the next couple of days. those flood alerts will stay with us here at least through tomorrow. you can see the heavy rain, the snow that works in as this system gets a little closer to the coast bringing the potential for good soaking rain and some mud slides and flooding along with that especially near l.a. and san diego. here are the areas that you'll want to watch if you're going to be traveling. we could see some possible delays for seattle, portland with some rain expected but especially into portions of of california, i-5, los angeles, san diego airports

angie, how is it looking out there? >> good morning, sam.ing all right for most of the country but we've got one trouble spot and that's centered from portions of of it california. flood alerts up for 27 million people including los angeles and san diego as well as phoenix. here's all that rain that kind of continues to work on in. that system is going to get a little closer through the coast today and shift farther to the east. that means periods of heavy rain. the flood concern will be there, potential delays to those areas and airports and roads will be on the table as well. meanwhile, doesn't feel like winter across most of the country. 53 degrees in omaha today, chicago heads to the low 40s. upper 50s for ks, oklahoma city heads to the low 60s. 10, 15, even 20-degree temperatures where they should be this time of year. and we roll into christmas day in new york with temperatures in the 50s. these temperatures not where they should be but at least we have a little bit of snow giving you a white christmas potentially across the rockies. t
