angie goff has a look at what's going on. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, joe. we know the boards and the signage behind us have been out there for weeks, warning and letting -- sending the message to metro riders that relief is coming, but it's going to take a lot of time. right now here at the 19th street entrance of the station at dupont circle, it's going to be closed so that worker which are working away now, we can hear them, will be replacing all three escalators. it's no small task. it's going to be closed for eight months. why so long? it's because they're going to rip out the existing units and put in a new spiral staircase and shaft in case of emergency. at all times, one escalator staircase will be preserved to provide a way out. we'll look at the map here. with the 19th street entrance closed, you're going to have to ease the north entrance near q street. metro workers plan to work day and night and weekends to fix what's considered some of the most unreliable escalators in the system. we want to let you know that long-term construction at the farra
