and time now for the weather let's go to meteorologist angie lassman for the forecast angie, what isflooding in florida. let's take a look at some video we have of just really the impressive amount of rainfall and flooding that occurred in parts of fort lauderdale dale. broward county was just inundated and they had over seven months of rain happen within seven hours the flooding concern remains there. they still have some flooding agss they're going to look into at least through the day today things have improved slightly. more rounds of rain that worked through last night we also have some rain working through parts of the southeast and watching for the carolinas to get in on that action, too. did you go outside if you live in the northeast yesterday you might have been shock because temperatures in places like central park hit 90 degrees. that ate a record and more heat through the day today. 80 for chicago, cleveland at 78. many records will be possible across 13 states we broke dozens of those yesterday. we're going to take a run again for new york 86 degrees for the high today,

also with us, nbc's meteorologist angie lassman with a look at today's threat first to you, what are you hearing from people there who have just experienced such devastation and heartache? >> yeah, good morning, ana as you can see behind me, the recovery and cleanup effort is well underway here in cole, oklahoma they experienced that ef-3 tornado that ripped through town just leveling businesses and homes, and now this community is sifting through the rubble and trying to put the pieces back together, trying to get the power back on, trying to find permanent housing for those who have lost their homes. we have heard some incredible stories of survival, people that just narrowly got to safety minutes before this tornado touched down, and this community is now in a state of sort of rebuild. they're trying to sort of understand where to go from here we spoke to one young man, his grandmother was one of the three victims lost to this tornado here's what he had to say. >> my mom tried to call, my uncle came over here it o'come get her, but by the time my uncle got over here, it already ha

. >> we want to bring in angie lassman with the severe weather threat we are facing this morning. >> good morning, guys. the good news is we will see all of the areas that need to clean up with quiet weather for a while longer. the strong storms continue east. right now, we have general thunderstorms. as the daytime heating gets going, we see the severe threat focused into 23 million homes as we go through the later part of the day. from scranton to savannah, we have the potential to see 1 inch hail. potentially higher than that and damaging winds. the good news with this is the tornado threat is low, but not zero. we will watch this in the afternoon and evening hours. the cold front will bring heavy rain to the mid-atlantic and northeast. specifically into tomorrow. we will see new england gearing up for soggy conditions. need it in this area. it will be the heavy rain that interrupts sunday plans. behind thehe system is the spri temperatures. by the time it gets to sunday, some areas like boston and hartford ending up with over 1 inch of rain as we get through the weekend. guys, ba
